AC Compressor Doesn't turn on

So I try my AC today for the first time since getting my car back 3 weeks ago from having the engine pulled to remove a dropped nut in the head. The compressor does not engage. I checked the connector on the top of the compressor and it seems to be plugged in fine. What next - a fuse, a relay? Any advice?

Id take it back to the shop that pulled the motor.

Yes, that was my first thought. If it is a fuse though, I would rather just fix it myself than go to the trouble of taking it to the shop.

the refrigirant is low so the compressor clutch will not engage

Would pulling the motor cause refridgerant to leak / escape?

Sometimes I disconnect the ac lines and other times I swing the compressor off to the side. Ask the people who pulled the motor for you which way they did it.

also, check to see if it is plugged into the harness

I checked the plug coming from the harness to the top of the compressor. It was connected. Is there another one that would be obvious that may be disconnected?

I guess I will be making a trip back to Troncalli.

    Ding Ding Ding.

The tell me the hose from the compressor to the condensor (is this the suction or discharge hose?) is leaking. New hose is $200 - total repair $410.

So I think I may take a stab at this myself. I can get the hose for $190 shipped from subarugenuineparts. I am assuming that if the refriderant is so low the compressor does not come on it is "evacuated". I can get a DIY recharge kit at Advanced - right. Am I missing anything?

Regarding it being related to the engine work, said though it may have been accelerated it did not cause it - so no responsibility. Not so sure, about that but don't know how much further I am willing to go. If I can fix it myself for $200 that is OK.

I have one of the hoses. Let me check before you buy a new one.

Please do. Let me know. It is the one from the compressor to condensor.

Man that sucks. Was the ac leaking before the engine was pulled?

I wasn't aware of it leaking. It worked fine ( I had used it occasionally in november and December for defrost).

Any chance they were damaged when he moved the pump out of the way. I would love to hear any professional opinions on how to handle. I haven't picked it up yet.
