I took the plunge and purchased the V-2. I was motivated by my upcoming up/down/cat back upgrade and it was highly recommended. It will be about two weeks until I can get the exhaust on. Would you-all recommend running a new map on the stock set up until I do the exhaust or wait? I have to admit I am really excited about this thing and would like to see what it can do, but not at the expense of the ECU. I have heard it is not good to change maps too often. Thanks
The AP should have a stage 1 map designed for stock cars and good for about 20-30 hp. Just plug in play dude
Yep, what they said. I believe the stock ECU can handle something like 100 base map reflashes. So 1 isn't going to kill you. I personally think it's a pain to switch base maps because I have trouble getting under the dash...but that probably has something ot do with me being a 6'4" mountain man.
Ok stage 1 it is! Hopefully I won't have to post any frantic "how too" posts. I am pretty good with the technology so...............we'll see!
Dissapointed wV-2 I have tried to load the AP program and updated Maps for my V2 Via a Sony Viao VISTA and a HP PC with XP and neither worked due to error MSVCR710.dll was not found. WT MFing Fk Sht! I paid close to a grand and I receive an error code on both systems like this. Pathetic and typical:eek3:
^^^ I think they come preloaded but I also think there are updates you should download Not completely sure though... Good Luck!
don't give up, there has to be a way for it to work. give it some thought and seek some professional advice. cobb is great, call them up.
^^^^Agreed. Call Cobb....They have great customer service. Have you donloaded the latest firmware and map manager? If not, you should really do this first as the version that came with your AP might not support vista. http://www.cobbtuning.com/info/?id=3260
Yeah I was just venting sorry...Probably should not have tried to get technical after a few cold ones anyway... I brought it in to work today with my laptop. I am going to give tech support a call. I am sure there is a simple solution!
I wouldnt isntall anything until you download the new AP Map Manager, Firmware and then upgrade the firmware on the AP.
I called Cobb and you are right they sent the old firm ware CD. I just upgraded it from the web site on my PC. Do you recommend loading the latest MAPS. Cobb stated they should already be on the AP and I should just go ahead and load without updating the Maps on the AP.
Ok great advice! My AP was way out of date. Downloaded the latest firmware and MAPS. I'll give it a shot tonight!
Update: Dropped the car off with KingWrex today. He did the last of the fluids I had left to complete the 60K: flushed and bled break system. New NGK's, oil & filter, a few new belts. He threw in a K&N air filter that was sitting around the shop. Can I say this is a "stand up guy" friggen good people, I appreciate that! I hooked him up with the ticket at the shop keep a little business flowing through there. Worth every dime. He even gave the engine a good de-greasing as well! So she is running/looking all good. I updated the firmware on the AP as you all recommended. Can I say the advice here was far better than COBB. I am not bitching because the AP is a good product, but I appreciate the advice right on the money. I downloaded stage one....WOW..What a difference! Immediate ignition improvement, idle quality and torque curve improvements and as the ECU is learning the map very nice power gains. Still tame, but respectable! The over-all, drive-ability: phenomenal. Next will be the Up(Turbo XS flex) @ down (Catted Injen SES) and STI stock cat back. Then stage 2 AP and custom tune if necessary. I have all the parts, just have to wrap the DP. Next install (still planning and purchasing): turbo(still deciding), injectors/fuel pump, STI intercooler/hoses, tuning
Glad you like the results of stage 1. Stage 2 is fun as well. Of course I am planning on a new turbo and fuel upgrades because you can never have too much power..
