My wife's RS just hit 108K, and I really need to get the timing belt changed. To my knowledge, all I really needed to have done is the timing belt and water pump. I've read different opinions on getting some of the pulleys changed, and possibly the cam/crank seals. We're on a pretty strict budget right now, so I'm not looking to get more work done than I have to. The schedule only calls for the timing belt, but what's a typical service look like? I'm definitely taking it to one of the recommended dealer alternatives to save a little, as well.
I agree with nsvwrx about AllPro. Great guys over there. With a timing belt - change : *tensioner *pulleys *water pump You don't have to worry about the seals unless they are leaking. The reason for replacing the pulleys and tensioner is because failed timing belts are usually a result of these. They are moving parts and wear out over time. If one were to fail, you would have to rebuild your heads
Thanks, guys...getting the pulleys definitely makes the price almost double, but I guess it's better to be safe than sorry.
I ended up taking my wife's car to AllPro on the 4th. Brandon really took of everything we needed, and gave us an unbelievable price. I really can't say enough about the service they provided us! Thanks for the recommendations!
