How does everybody feel about after market seats? I can get my hands on some Corbeau FX-1 Pros. We know how the STI seats fail at being supportive, so I want something with more support and feel with out breaking the bank. I saw on IWSTI that due to the airbags in the STI seats if I take them out the airbag light will come on and no of the bags will deploy. And there is a insurance issue with not have the proper equipment in the car and possible not getting covered. I'm open to any suggestions and comments. here is a link to the Corbeau's (they are all black) http://www.racing-seats-usa.com/29501.html
I would think with a resistor you could get the light to go out and the remaining airbags to deploy. As far as the seat, it is not my favorite. For a street car get something reclinable.
you will want something reclinable...trust me. a fixed back isn't comfy everyday. as for the corbeau's, i used to have some red forzas years ago and they are great for the money. my only gripe is that the material they use to cover the seats are hard to keep clean. these would probably be my choice if i were to buy some again which i might http://www.corbeau.com/products/reclining_seats/cr1/
Cant get away with that on the 06+ STi. Some 05's and pretty much ALL 2006+ SUBARUs have occupant detection and occupant position sensors. Depending on the weight and position of the occupant the SRS will deploy the airbags differently. The drivers seat has a position and buckle detection system. The passenger seat has a weight, position and buckle detection system. Depends on the error that the airbag system is seeing.
so if you installed resistors and does not see airbag light this would mean the SRS is working properly sans the sideair bags correct?
Yes, it works on the cars with just side airbags. The guy who purchased my 04 WRX was hit in the front end, both front bags deployed. It has RS seats in it with resistors.
lol race seats are not suppose to be comfortable... they are suppose to be supportive and lightweight.
AND comfortable. An uncomfortable driver is not a fast driver. However, comfy on TRACK and comfy on STREET are two completely different things.
