What in the world IS clunking! I've checked all the bolts and it's all nice and tight and to the tq specs. I've read that the bearing in the Perrrin PSRS is probably popping out of it's seat. It only clunks when I hit the brakes hard so it has something to do with the weight shifting to the front of the car. WJM if you read this you have any suggestions? Buddy told me to make sure the end nut (the 22mm one) of the transverse arm is tightening all the way. Is my ALK screwed? HELP!!!!!
Take it apart and put it back together following the directions very slowly. If the Perrin ALK is still like the one we have on my brothers car its going to transmit a lot of noise.
Oh does anyone have any suggestion how to remove the ALK from the ball joint? I hit it with a mallet and it doesn't want to pop off. Don't want to damage it so professional advice is needed!
I'm going to attempt to tighten that 22mm PITA bolt. It's so hard to reach and I can't get the torque wrench to it with out removing the control arm. Open end box wrench here I come.
This freaking ALK is ticking me off. The passenger side isn't right. I loosened up everything and then loaded the suspension. Then tightened the nut to 150 ft/lb. Then tightened the 2 bolts on the kit to 150 lb/ft. Everytime I turn sharp and go in reverse *POP!*. Sometimes when the tq hits *POP*. Could it be anything else other than the ALK? It didn't start until I installed the ALK. The only thing diff that I did on the passenger side is try to remove the ball joint but found out I didn't need to. That nut is tight. :dunno:
It is full of grease. Has the fittings on it. Is there a ball bearing in it. Is it possible it's screwed up good now since I've driven a bit on them? What is actually clunking/popping? It's so dramatic I can feel it in my feet all the way on the drivers side.
Did you find the answer for your cluncking? I think I'm having the same problem. I thought it was the coilovers but it is not. It does it for a couple of miles then no more. It seems something needs to set after the car is parked for some time.
