My alternator belt split on my sti. It seems like a simple fix to do at home. Wood a replacement belt from Autozone be fine or are there better quality ones? Looking to replace it ASAP

Why do you have wood on your mind? Why not get one from nearest Subaru? I think they keep them in stock.

If you are going to get an aftermarket belt, at least get a Gates belt.....dont buy the cheap crap at autozone or advance. I mean you might save like $5 from a factory belt.

Oh ok, thanks. I'll look into gates. Most likely will do ac belt as well. How my alternator belt split in three I have no idea. Nothing around that area was loose.

sounds like it may be the original belt. that happens after 9 years...

might want to replace the idler pulley as well, it will polish the ribs into blades when over tensioned.

It is the original belt, and yes this will be the ninth year. Good call

Picked up both at Subaru of kennesaw today. By the way the old guy with glasses who works the parts department sucks, horrible customer service.
