i wanted some of those guys to drop the helmets and scrap!!! not some weak ass pushing :gfight: ....but definitely looks like some fun, if you have healthcare insurance!!!
Nothing like the dirt karting that my brother was doing a few years ago... There wasn't any pushing going on... except a bunch of rednecks trying to push their knuckles through each others heads... I had to stop going and helping out... every week it was someone new to fight with, and looking out behind you for the guys you were fighting the week before. And if it was a full moon... it was like being at a 5 acre cage match!
wow... suddenly f1 seems sooo safe didnt SS take a dive into a water body of sorts at tally while karting?
HAHAHA. Great video, I probably know a lot of those guys. Many of those shots were shifters. Most were at national events. I didn't wreck..... much... the "water body" at Tally was a small "lake" off the skidpad. We were running clockwise (the opposite direction that the school run) and I was in a new kart. I had been over there a few times on an old slow kart. I pushed hard enough to do well, but never had the motor to make those end-of-the-straight passes. Well, I finally ponied up and bought a good kart used. I went to Tally for the Long Track Nationals. We pulled up in my Blazer with the 5x8 utility trailer to see the SEMI trucks (40+ foot trailers) that had been there since Wednesday testing. I went out and EVERY time I got to that corner there was somebody slow in front of me "setting" my speed. (In practice you don't generally go in 2 or 3 wide, you save that for the race). In my slower kart we were doing maybe 104 going in there. Unbeknownst (sp?) to me, this new kart was near 112. Well, the first time I got that corner all to myself, I went right to my old braking point... 8 mph is HUGE!!! I hit the brakes right as the skidpad turned. I left the track at least doing 60... "Fortunately" there was a small LAKE there from the rain that morning and it helped slow me down... I had water IN my helmet, in my seat, etc. I sort of wish the story ended there... Ashley and I cleaned the kart and I went back out. I needed to get a feel for the new speed. I was coming out of the kink (clockwise now) onto the short straight that parallels the highway. I was catching a train of 4 guys, and catching them quick. *(Please note that this was near 5 YEARS ago, I learned a thing or two since, maybe)* I was fairly sure that I could pass the whole train before what is now 1-2. I probably could have, except that as I drafted in and broke right to go by, the 4th guy in the train also broke right to pass, then the 3rd place broke right to pass so we were FOUR WIDE. I knew that the guy who had been in 4th had no idea I was there, so rather than hit him, I went off the inside. Of course that's where the river is... By the time I got back to the pits I was so overheated and dehydrated that I cramped so bad I couldn't stand. My wonderful wife (girlfriend at the time) recleaned the WHOLE kart while I lay in the trailer with an ice bag on my chest. I was technically in the S2 class - semi-pro. In the race I ended up leaving the S2 pack by lap 4, and I think by lap 9 I had made my way all the way throught the S1 class (the pros). On the second to last lap I had been cooling the tires and got passed by another S2. Got balked on my last corner last lap pass attempt by a lapper and finished 2nd in my first national race. With plenty of memories, and coolest of all, 2nd place was still a nice check, dropped my cost for the weekend significantly... Those were the days. I think I want a new kart... SS
If you get one I'll get one too. I want to get into this sooo bad, but I don't have anyone to do it with me. I'm trying to get my roomie to get one with me and start a little self-funded team going.
