well it doesnt mess up too much, since he has been running it for 3 years. Really, the only thing it does is put a tremendous amount more wear on your turbo than it would normally encounter. If you think about it, if you are shooting flames out of your exhaust between shifts(or at other times also), you are doing the same damage, just at a MUCH slower rate. Also, it sounds cool
yeah you're right...I didnt even think about that. Then again, I imagine if you are crazy enough to run antilag on the street, you are hopefully smart enough to know the consequences of it.
That's pretty awesome, aside from the damage it is probably causing. In my opinion, its too much for a daily driver.
Not sure about block damage...head maybe....but main thing I could see is that it probably superheats the exhaust manifolds and the UP and of course the turbo....imagine under hood temps on that bad boy!! The main premous is that it is passing unburnt fuel out of the engine and into the exhaust manifolds where it is ignited to make explosions that spin the turbo.
This just sounds like a bad idea.... unless you're getting rid of the car soon or like replacing engine parts
I really don't think so, lol. I have been wrong before, but I believe this is something ran on the ralley cars only. I believe it is a modification to the computer and the throttle. I imagine if the new STI's are drive by wire it could all be done through the computer.
Here thought i read it on Wikipedia while reading up on Initial D "ALS is actually built into cars such as the later versions of the Lancer Evolution and the Subaru Impreza WRX STi. This is due to the fact that these cars compete in the Group N competition in WRC, which requires homologation of the cars in the competition. Therefore, every feature on the competition car must be part of the production car. IIRC, the Group N cars are actually their own production version of the STi. They only release a very limited amount (has to be something like 200 units producted) and its not on all STis.
