I have been into home stereos for quite some time. Have built my own speakers, upgraded my own electronics etc. I love the way a nice set up can sound. Anyone else into home stereo here?

I am a big believer in spending little money and getting huge bang for the buck :) I have a pair of spaekers I paid about $890 for that blows away anything under the $4000 range. They just rock. My whole system is kind of like that lol.

I appreciate a nice system but do not have the money to afford one of my own. A couple of my friend's dads had nice setups (very expensive German speakers and stuff) that we would always crank up.:bowdown:

i live with mr. diy audio. audio parts have taken over my basement and moved into my den. Brian designs board for a chip based amp that you can purchase, you can see his stuff at http://www.chipamp.com/. If you are looking for good audio forum, brian loves www.diyaudio.com.

Here is a pic of the gigantic subwoofer he made and that i made him get rid of:

I like dabbling in the home stereo stuff. Just running a nice lil yamaha and Klipsch speakers. Still need to find that perfect subwoofer. Right now leaning towards the SVS PB-12. Good bang for the buck from what all the audiophile forums say. http://www.svsubwoofers.com/

i just get what sounds good usually. Denon is a company we just picked up at work and its expensive as crap but the sound is incredible. i customized one in my room and put acouple car audio subs in some boxes i had and ran them to my receiver adn they pound.

I'm rockin the Harman Karndon DPR 2005 digital receiver/ amp mated to some old skool JBL Music 2 surround speakers and sub.

Still holding out for some awesome speakers though.

My stuff is more for home theater than music specific.

I have an old Denon AVR-3300 and Atlantic Technology System 170 that I bought in 1999. It's still kicking and is very effective at rumbling the room.

I am currently using a pair of EFE technologies Speakers. Ed Frias is the designer and he gets alot of rave reviews on the internet forums. Heck of a nice guy to. I have a custom built passive radiator designed sub. It has 2 12 inch peerless drivers in it. My DAC is a custom built piece. It's and ART DI/0 and is probably the best piece I have in my system. It's built off of a $99 professional audio piece and then is modified with about $400 worth of new circuitry. I currently have an Outlaw audio reciever.
I think my next upgrades are going to be a new cd player. Looking at a kit using the cdpro2 player. But I am also interested in some of the new battery powered amps coming out.

I'm too po' to get into the high dollar stuff, but I built my own folded TQWTs which sound pretty decent even with cheap single drivers...

im a poor guy too but. i have a good sony reciever. dts sounds so much better to me than dolby digital. if the dvd is in dts i always it on. im on budget speakers. but they rock my house and sound clean enough. so im happy. may sound crazy but best bang for the buck on a sub is KLH ASW10-100 Subwoofer. mine rocks the house, and isnt muddy sounding. i got mine at best buy for free when i bought my reciever.

Guys on a budget. There is a great speaker you can build over at http://www.audioreview.com/Learncrx.aspx
There are even a few places that sell the kits, speakers and crossovers already made for you for $175.00 a pair. If you can't solder and read directions :)
Then you can build your own box of buy one for around $55 each. ($110 a pair) So for just under $300 you can have speakers that rock. they are a great design and are a hell of a deal. Actually its a steal. Come over to my house if you want to hear and old pair I have that I use for my surrounds currently.

Hi end sound doesnt have to cost you and arm and a leg. :wiggle:
