Hey doods, I'm new around town and I was wondering if anyone would like to go? It's a road that has 311 curves within 11 miles. It is an awesome road. If anyone cares to go either pm me or just post here. Departure this coming friday.
Be careful!!!! Not only from the road itself, but there's a thread over on nabisco about the troopers now having motorcycles to hand out tickets with. May want to go look over there and see if you can find the thread
Go to autox instead, you only risk hitting cones, not trees. There is a porsche autox this sunday if you need a fix.
everytime I see a group go up there, there seem to be at least 1 damaged/totalled car. Be careful! PCA autocross event this sunday, as Mere said -- Brian
We ususally go to Nantahala area via this road once or twice a year too, this site is pretty informative of the latest issues, and other good places with hazards identified on all http://www.tailofthedragon.com/
Went there with my friend Mike in his vette and it is sick. When I went no leaves and could see through the trees and around turns, also at like 8 in the mourning (less traffic), but yea be careful. Motorbikes are freakin crazy up there and just stay in your lane. Also tread on tires disappear fast.
If you don't want to be bothered with crowds and so many cops(although there are some) just head up 60 from Dahlonega. Plenty of fun roads once you get up there a bit
Umm two people got tickets up there during the last mountain run, I wouldn't say there are less cops. It's alot cheaper to go an autox for $30 than spend god knows how much on a ticket. Just my two cents.
well let's just say some of the back roads aren't patrolled quite as much. Course with these kinds of roads you'd be pushing a lot of luck if your breaking the laws anyway.
I went to the dragon a few weeks ago and it was awesome, it was my second time up there for the NASIOC yearly meet. Do a night run, it is by far the best way to drive it.
