a bus carrying a baseball team went over the side onto interstate 75 off of northside drive early this morning. it was carrying about 30 people. 6 have died and at lest 20 are injured and at the hospital. at this point they are not sure what happened but police are investigating. last i heard 75 southbound is completely closed off. let's keep these guys in our thoughts and drive safe this weekend especially bc of all the rain we had yesterday and last night phil
i wouldn't think that it is any better. it would be a good idea to take the back roads. AM 750 is the best place to go for traffic though it seems
ok now they're saying that the bus landed on the southbound so scratch what i said before...northbound is open and you can see the bus completely sideways on the southbound side 6 dead 29 injured students were from bluffton uni in ohio on there way to florida
From 11Alive.com: "Investigators believe the bus driver was traveling southbound in the HOV lane of I-75 when the driver mistakenly exited in the HOV exit lane, which runs off the left side of the highway. The bus was likely traveling at full speed when it went up the exit ramp and onto Northside Drive before plunging over the bridge, authorities said. "
Here's a google map link to it... http://maps.google.com/maps?f=q&hl=...3106,-84.40889&spn=0.001212,0.002969&t=h&om=1
^^they said that 75 S would be closed all day for them to investigate...it looked like they were about to put the bus on a trailer this morning though so i don't think the bus will still be there but don't be surprised of there are police around taking up the road
I saw it this morning on my way to work, it was a horrible accident, the bus had to have been going full speed to jump the concrete wall on the northside dr. bridge, you never know when its gonna be your time.
imagine being the lady driving under the bridge at the same time...all of a sudden a bus drops right in front of you. there's not very much time to react to that no matter who you are or what car you're driving, not to mention how many people in the world can say they almost had a bus land on top of them. not sure if she survivied though they're not getting into very much specifics about the accident yet as they don't know too much themselves
