im planning on going to the strip here soon and i wondered if anyone wanted to give me some tips...

1- what should i do about the whole burnout situation...
2- for a launch what is a good safe rpm to leave from...
3- anything that anyone else wants to through in would be much appriciated...

Just me and I'm not the best but:
    1) No burnout, just go around the water and stage...
    2) I usually go at 5500, and get 1.9ish 60 foots... could be a lot better... Don't dump the clutch, let off like you just stepped in dog poo..
    3) practice... takes a few to get over the nerves of doing it and getting used to staging.. Watch the 2 lights on top, go real slow till you see the 1st light go on, then very slow until 2 light goes on. That gave me trouble the 1st time as I had no idea what those lights meant. Then when its go time, I go on the light before the green.. Unless you have a stupid fast reaction time, you won't get a neg. start... Other than that, its all about learning your shift points. People say that our turbo's fall on their face after 6k.. But I've found my 1/4 times are way better shifting at redline rather than anywhere else....

i figure its mostly practice... damn a 1.9 60 foot... for some reason i feel like that seems a bit slow for awd... nothign against you.. im just thinking

Yeah, 1.9 isn't that great for an AWD car.. I'm def. not the best at launching. Going by all the threads I've read, its not impossible to get in the 1.6's - 1.7's... As far as times, my best in my 03' bugeye was 14.2.. I've only ran the STI when I was bone stock, and ran a 13.9. I was messing around with my shift points, and didn't break into the 13's until I started shifting at redline... Really want to get back now that I'm stage 2 protuned, hoping to run low 13's.. Let me know when you go, I've been wanting to go for a while now..

me too, I'm curious what I can trap in the qrtr, not really expecting grewat numbers since I have to baby the tranny. If I get the leak fixed by then I'll go with yall.

Yeah, a guy at my work has also been bugging me for months about a track day at Silver Dollar on Nov. 22... Its a camaro/mustang crew, but it'd be good to bring some Subi's there to kick ass... I want to go just to see somewhere other than Commerce. A few people have told be most people are .2 to .3 seconds faster at Silver Dollar..

If somebody has a trailer I'll go. I've been wanting to disentegrate a 5 speed for a while now.

FWIW I have always run faster at Commerce than Silver Dollar.

with a lightweight fly you will have to launch fairly close to redline to not bog it down. When I had my RA 5spd the one good lauch I was just under the revlimiter when I let her go.

I would NOT do this on a stock wrx tranny.

once it starts to grab come off it as fast as you can at the same time putting your right foot through the floor.

Yeah, I wasn't sure if the SD being faster than Commerce would apply to us.. The guys who told me that were RWD guys saying SD was better prepared and their 60 foots were a lot better... Since we're not gonna have traction issues, that would null and void that.. I was also hoping the elevation difference would help us out, or something crazy like that...
