hey thanks again man for the help, i dunno how or why but the green plug that was dangling in my kick panel wh en i plugged it in my car went insane! when i unplugged it the check engine light stopped flashing and cut off and the cars idle fixed. So freakin weird.

You know anything about that plug?

if you have the security up grade theres a wire that isnt hooked up in the kick that puts the car in Passive Mode. In Passive Mode the system will automatically activate in one minute but will not lock the doors. it will arm the alarm even if the doors are not locked. Lock the doors using the power lock switch with the door open. If you are using the remote to lock the doors, there would be no reason to set Passive Mode because locking with the remote would arm the alarm anyway so I'm not sure why this function exists.... To open the doors use the remote or the key, but then the alarm will go off and you'll need

    To set Passive Mode:
Open driver's door and remove the plastic step sill that curves up toward the front. Connect the single-pole white connectors.

that was for the 1999 Legacy only. they still have the same thing now but it needs to be programed via remote and ignition cycling.

this is the only free wire that i know of in that area. ill see if i can find the link. its been awhile.

yesterday is when it happened, i put a remote start/tt/security system on my car. When we had all the undercarriage of the steering column pulled out nad were doing some wire soders(sp?) we saw this green plug and i remembered it hitting my foot previously.

Well i plugged it in thinking it was important. When i cut the car on my check engine light started flashing and my idle was going up and down drastically like a throttle body issue. Well i thought about ti and unplugged that harness and it stopped.

BTW i had already dissabled the factory alarm system by unplugging it completly.

could be, im wondering if it had something to do with what all the guy had on the car before me. Im not 100% but i htink it had engine management of some sort. I really hope so atleast, i found out in recent studies that it had a vf34 turbo, injectors, bbk, and all kinda goodies.

the green plug is there for when you when flash the ecu. it puts it in a test mode. When you have it plugged in and try to start the car wierd behavior occurs. The cel flashes and the fuel pump cylces on and off.

yea man my cars a freak!! haha from what hte guy had told me when i bought it nothgin was done to it. i had it dynoed at the last dyno day and was puttin 220 at the wheels with 229tq. so i wasnt complaining.

Liquid thanks man that makes sense now....i always wondered what that plug is. So its for dealership use only huh?

yea bobby i found it on nasioc and i was pretty pissed at the guy that sold it to me but he was honest about the rest of the cars history. Plus you know what its got a lot of miles on it and it still comes back for whatever i give it so thats all that matters to me.
