    Hey guys, as an avid autocrosser and memeber of the ATL region team solo let me share my knowledge.

    The ATL region is a good group of people. we get a lot of novices at each event so we know how to help you get the most out of the experience. you'll be in good hands. They will supply numbers for your car and loaner helmets but bring some masking tape to fix the numbers to your windows.

    bring water and maybe a lunch. Plenty of sunscreen too!

    When autocrossing use the nervise energy to help you focus. Looking ahead while driving and not where you are is the best advice I've ever been given. It is all about car control not just all out speed. some parts of the course you need to take with finesse other parts are full throttle.

    Autocrossing is a blast, only problem is I'm now hopelessly addicted and the tire habit is worse then crack.

    I will nto be at the next event otherwise I'd let you drie with me to see how it goes. but try to hook up with someone who will let you ride with them or ask them to ride with you (do both actually)

    have fun
    Patrick

    Hey y'all,

    Just wanted to say that I'll be there for the morning events, so if you get stuck or confused come find me. I'm the guy handing out armbands at 7AM. Yeah, it's as much fun as it sounds. ;) Anyway, for you novices out there, feel free to come find me, I'll be glad to help out however I can. Heck, just grab anyone really, the whole bunch is pretty damn friendly.

    <begin soapbox>
    One warning Pat didn't point out though, is you really need to be on time, especially for your 1st event. Heck, try to come early. We end up w/ 200+ entrants at most events, & moving that many ppl thru registration/tech/racing just doesn't happen smoothly. Not trying to harp too much on this, but there's enough going on at the event already, adding the extra pressure of being late will really hurt ya.
    </end soapbox>

    Milo,
    I will be running in the morning. I probably could have just jumped into DS, but figured I would give myself one more outing in the WRX without any pressure...well, not that DS would be pressure, but in Novice, I can just have fun...:p I will get my new wheels at Thanksgiving, after that, I will probably be running DS for at least the next few events. I will bring you a copy of the Video footage, raw and edited...

    Well i've just signed up for the Nov 14th event. I dont really like Turner Field that much for some reason, the first one I went to I didnt really like that much, probably because it was my first autox here in Atlanta and was too used to the ones up in mid-Michigan.
    So far i've had tons of fun at all the autoxs at Gwinnett Fairgrounds.

    I'll be running as 21 STU, might change to TO depending on how I feel, if those damn STi springs get cleared from customs and shipped to me :evil:

  21. BelvnAWD

    BelvnAWD I'm Vin, Bell-Vin...

    Sorry I didn't make it out! Not feeling well and had a ton of stuff to finish up today, also didn't get time to do the oil change and my new wheels won't be her etill Turkey Day, so, decided to just pack it in until next year...I don't think there is a december event, but if there is, then I might make that. I have to teach classes next weekend, so won't make the 21st...

    Milo,
    I go through downtown on a daily basis. If you want to pick somewhere close to the highway, I could meet up with you to drop off the video...

  22. miloman

    too bad u couldn't make it... as usual, it was a lot of fun

    are u coming to the drag strip with us? if so i could pick up the video from you then

  23. BelvnAWD

    BelvnAWD I'm Vin, Bell-Vin...

    Nah, Drag events are not my thing. I am sure we'll meet up sooner or later. Glad you were able to go at least. How did the subbies do for the day?

    Joel posted the fastest time for the day at 57.xxx in his STi. He inched out a Z06. It got really good at the end, It's a shame you missed it Milo. I think the highlight was a drifter in a 240sx. He was amazing to watch, but he DNF'd every run. Still pretty cool.

    just plucky, jason, chris and i showed up (that i know of)... we all did pretty good... i'm waiting for the official results

    ive seen that drifter before... he tries to cover the course sideways... pretty fun to watch if ur work assignment is not running after cones

    by the way, was joel's best time 57.xx or 47.xx?

  26. FTZ

    Sorry, 47.xxx

    Wish I could have stayed a bit longer to see the fourth run group, had to go up to Alpharetta to help a friend fix his laptop..oh well.
    At least I did ok, I think winning STU class, gotta wait for results.

    edit: oh yeah having those three DNFs just showed me how I don't really like the Turner Field events that much. Also 1st and 2nd run groups had tons of DNFs. Then watching the first two runs of the 3rd run group from the outside I saw a couple DNFs and knocked down cones that the corner workers weren't calling just unorganized a bit there...
