Can we get an official list for how many will be at Gwinnett Fairgrounds this Sunday. So far I know, Milo Chris pct075 Myself mike I think: Scott BelvnAWD Anyone else planning on coming, also if you are planning on coming, Running or Spectator?
Autocross Hello, What time is the autocross?. Do you have to pay an entrance fee?. How do I get to the Gwinnett Fairgrounds?. Thanks, Mark
Is SM running in the morning or afternoon?? As for the event, no entrance fee to watch, the fairgrounds are on Sugarloaf parkway. For more info, check out Atlanta SCCA Website Come on out, its a great chance to meet people, see some nice cars, and if you decide to start autocorssing, learn about your car, driving and safety. See ya there!!!
Jason, Unfortunately, I won't be able to make it. I'll get out there sometime though! Good luck guys. Post up after the event. Later. - Clay
I think from what Milo said we (SM) are second run group in the morning, and there are a total of 6 run groups this year, 3 morning, 3 afternoon.
Auto Cross. Hi, I went today for a few hours and rode with Chris. What a blast!!. I will definitely go tomorrow when there are more people. I might start doing this after about a year and some mods. Mark
Why wait a year, it is best to start before you get into modding heavily. Learn to drive the car as is.
Racing. I need to wait because of funds and also I want to observe and ask questions, etc. I don't really jump into anything without careful consideration. Thanks for the advice. Mark:bigthumb:
That's cool, definitely come out to an event, I am sure none of us would mind giving you a ride along. The poeple are great and love to help each other out. It is definitely a good time.
Re: Auto Cross. Mark, yeah, good to meet you too. Didn't see you Sunday, but looking fwd to seeing you out there later this year. I'm no expert on autoXin, but if you have any questions, just ask! I hope to see you out there in the novice group at our next event. Oh, & before you bolt on any hot parts, I highly recommend trying a school or two. The atlanta region puts on a novice school 2-3 times a year, which is a great starting point. Once you get more serious, Scott Siegel teaches an all day school over at at little Taladega which is great (just ask around here, everyone who's taken it loved it). There's also the Evolution schools, which are more auto-X specific & are also quite good. Anyway, just my 2cents. How'd everyone do yesterday? -Laters! -Chris!
Not to bad. My best run was a 52.888, Last run of my day. My first to runs were horrible, I was getting no traction on my street tires, and Milo was having the same problem with his R Comps. By our last two runs we started to get some heat in our tires and everything started to hook up nicely. Hightlight of the day though was my ride along with Joel his first run in the afternoon. He only hit 4 cones, but his car and his driving is absolutely amazing, Launch control is awesome, suspension is tight as a rock and my helmet was constantly banging off the back of the seat. IT WAS AWESOME.
Well I have to say, I guess I'm hooked now. Autocross yesterday was great I think I did pretty good I guess. I'm pretty sure I got 1st Place for Novice afternoon group. All in all it was really fun. I would have to say that there were some pretty sick cars there. I got to ride in Jason's car for his first run, and one with Patrick in his ride. I don't know the correct numbers but these are pretty close from what I can remember. 4 runs 54.4 with Jason (WRXFan420) 54.9 with Jason (WRXFan420) 52.1 with Milo (Miloman) 52.6 with Milo (Miloman)
This is true. Hey, i'm a newbie to this autocross stuff. I didn't get a D&F nor hint any cones tho, not bad for a first timer. I was pretty pleased with what I did.....:bigthumb:
Def. should be proud. You obviously have some skill, now, just remember that the best way to get faster is not to buy more stuff, but to get more seat time and you'll be all set.
Man, I had a blast too! This was my first autox event and I cant wait to do some more suspension mods and get some better tires. Here are my times from my four runs. I got better each time. 56.582 55.548 55.245 54.526
