I let three different people drive my car last weekend. One guy burnt my clutch up bad, but oh well. Shawn can ride shotgun
Will see you guys out there. We are running in the morning as well I haven't decided if I will run in AS or STU yet. -- Brian
Guys do to believe ill be tehre for this. Im coming to GA Friday night to leave saturday night sometime to get back to AL sunday for Importfaceoff. Anyone care to meet up with me sometime to show me around etc, i have NO idea where im going lol. Ill be in conyers in friday night.
do you guys run with half full tanks of gas or something like that? use any octane boosters? what PSI do you recommend with the stockers? any other little bits of info you can share? questions questions questions....... :ugh:
I run with about a quarter tank of gas if there is a station close by, sometimes ill bring a few gallons in a gas can to help me make it to the closest station to fill up. Of course take everything out of your tunks, tire, carpet, jack, everything, it should be completly bare. Have nothing loose on the inside of your car, not even a peice of paper, take out floor matts (or at least the driver matt), get a good launch, and drive it like you rented it... Also UP the tire pressure!!!!!! Your going to want to rear to step out a little but more so run more pressure in the rear than you do in the front. I ran 53 in rear and 48 in the front. But im on 225/45's......i think lol. Also when the car understeers, stay on it,ive seen lots of people get off of it and loose lots of momentum, the point of the autox course is to use as much of the lines as you can, the car is going to push out, just prepare for it and compensate accordingly.
WOW! that's a lot more PSI than i though anyone'd say. Very good info. Thanks for the details, WRXEM02. gotsol, your my co-piolet, show me the way....
Do not run with a low tank. I did that once and every time I took a hard turn the gas would get pushed to the sides of the tank and the car would stall out for a second. It definitely cost me a few seconds each run. I wouldn't run on anything less than half a tank.
This will be my first event in an actual class. What class should I try to run in STX or SM? I have full exhaust(no cats, but do they actually check?), EM but will be running the STX map from Cobb, front and rear sways. I think I may be able to get away with STX, although it doesn't really matter becuase I cant keep up with the big boys any how.
If your worried about being legal go SM. Otherwise, you can sign up for STX and beat up on my times . And about tire pressures, I usually run more tire pressure in the front and less in the rear to tune out understeer. It's always seemed to work for me, but I'm I doing this wrong?
Wow mirrorkana was a blast, I totally got my butt handed to me. I totally felt like i performed better when i knew some guy in a BSP vette was on the course at the same time. I don't think brian and I will make it out tomorrow for the regular event, we are totally pooped.
I signed up for STX because they run in the morning, and SM is running in the afternoon. Or so that's the way I read into the run groups.
Milo............ Next weekend is PCA's Autox (fyi) for those that didnt get a chance this weekend. Bob
Ok, so i did my first autoX on Sunday. i was in the AM novice group. i came in 3rd to a heavily modded STi and a M3 with R-compound tires. and now i know why everyone dogs the RE92's. yeah, they were pretty terrible. so now i know for sure what mod i need first. too much fun, though. the course was sick! it used the whole parking lot. my best time was 63.454 sec.
now you've got it in the vains. My plan worked perfectly I'm glad you had fun. You and Rich did really well for your first time out. I had a good time too. I would have won the class my a nice margin if I didn't hit two cones. Milo, Meredith, Brian, Wayne: Where were you guys?
Do you have any more info on this? Is there a place to sign up, or do you sign up when you get there? Thanks.
Here you go......... Its from peachstatePCA. (I usually post it over on rennsouth.com in their Events area also) 20th - Autocross #5 - Gwinnett County Fairgrounds. Arrive at 9:00 for a course walkthrough and registration. Guided Course Walk-though for Novices: 9:30 (Novices must be registered before the walkthrough) Registration CLOSES: 10:00 First car out will be at 10:30am. Directions: 85 north to Hwy. 316 north, exit Sugarloaf Pkwy., go right, proceed about 5 miles to the Fairgrounds on the left.
So no pre-registration. How many people usually show up? Is there a morning and afternoon group? How many runs do you get? Sorry for all the questions, but I just want to know what to expect before I make the haul up there from the southside. Thanks for the info.
No pre-registration. They basically take all the cars that come, do a tech inspection, if you dont already have a pre-registered # with the club you can pick some other number. Then they just see how many cars overall and split them into 3 groups usually. The "V"isitors are typically in run group#3 and go last. I'd say there are usually (3) runs. BTW....... all visitors are places in the same class. (I can read your mind already giving it a 50/50 at best................ I hear ya)
BUMP! More info at: http://www.peachstatepca.org/2005_calendar.htm#November Who is coming to this? Brian and I will be there. Do to their insurance, you can't have passengers in your car unless it's an "instructor" so I can't give any fun rides, sorry.
Will they have helmets for rent or to borrow there? I guess I should stop being lazy and just get one. I might show up, but nobody I know is free to go with me, and I hate going to these by myself.
Aww come on, that's no excuse. All of my friends have been lazy up untill recently. I used to always go to every autox alone. Besides I'll be there to keep you company.
i'm fairly sure they will have loaner helmets. We WRXs got to make an appearance, usually the visitor class at the porsche events are EVO fests!
