I have a possible buyer for my RE070, so I was thinking about getting some new tires for autox. If you have max performance or R tires, let me know what they are and what you think of them. Especially if you have an STi and you know how RE070 feel.

victoracers... they were AWESOME when i first got em... however leaving them in my closet over the winter has robbed them of grip

I am still running my street tires. They are Potenza SO3s, they are great for dialy driving, but lacking on the Auto X course.

I run Dunlop R compound rain tires. They were on clearance at Tire Rack for $110 ea (225/45R17), so I grabbed em as quick as I could. Yes I run rain tires. Not as grippy, but more tread depth. Hoping I can get a full season out of them. Can't find them on tire rack today or I'd attach a link, guess they're all gone. =( They aren't as sticky as Hoosiers or Victoracers, but boy were they cheap.

When these are gone, I'll likely go back to the Kumhos. They seem to be the best value in the racing tire market. Check out both their Ecsta & Victoracer R compounds.

I ran two seasons on Victoracers in d-stock and took 2nd place both years. The Victo's are pretty grippy but also forgiving. They are not the best R-compound tire out there but they are cheep and best for camber challanged cars.

I currently run the Kumho MX's in STX now and they feel pretty good. They take heat well but the sidewalls are somewhat soft compared to the Azenis.

The debate rageous on about the "best" but Grassrootsmotorsports magazine has conducted an exhaustive tire test in the next issue. watch for it as it will have some great info

the victoracers are proven to work. v700 and v701. both are great for the first 2 hard runs.

but after that they tend to fall apart and not grip as hard.

The dunlop racing R compound tires are great. They work hard for a long time.

I heard the shaved and heat cycled toyo ra-1's work great. lasts forever, like 3 seasons (not daily driven).

of course, you can't go wrong with the short living hoosiers, they're the best tires.

I use kumho asx all season. They suck at the best level. I will literally drift through the corners after the first run. not good ran hot.

the favor around the track's the falken azenis. they're cheap, could be daily driven and they grip well. They do ok in the rain and most importantly, they'll last at least 15,000 miles daily driven, which is great, since you could run these at the track only for a long time.

I'll prob. run next seasons on the re070's and see how things fair. I'm working out a lot of kinks in my suspension now, but am eager to get out there and see if its paid off. I've heard a lot of great things about the Azenis though. Sorry I cant offer much more to the thread.
