i know it's specced torque is 145 ft-lbs after some mild searching, but i can't find a desciption of the part. The rear wheel might turn when torquing it, so JT's suggestion sounds about right
Not sure about Subaru, but some cars not only have a torque spec, but also a special procedure for installing an axle nut, what are you trying to do with it exactly???
jt: thanks for the link jonnyboy: ive been experiencing a clicking noise that seems to originate from the driver's side front wheel area... it clicks when im switching from accel to decel or backwards... after doing some research on nasioc, it seems like a lot of people having this problem have solved it by tightening the axel nut
thanks... i was afraid it would be something expensive/disastrous... hopefully this will solve the problem
*mrcoffee searches for his marble. The last place he saw it was milo's car...oh well, it'll show up."
Is it just loose or something milo??? it might possibly be the half-shaft joints. But definitely try the nut first, its cheaper!
i dunno if its loose or not... hoping it is... all i know is that the car is making a noise and some people have fixed it by tightening that nut
Let me know when you figure out what size it is. I might have a socket for it. Axel nuts tend to be pretty frickin huge and the sockets are like $15 apiece or something, i.e. not really worth it to buy and use once.
i was gonna go up to SOG next week and have scott take a look at it... i probably don't have time to do anything before that cuz of finals... appreciate the offer buddy
if you need sockets and stuff, mine go up to 27mm and i've got a wrench that'll do 145ftlb. just let me know if you need them
