Next week I plan on relocating my battery to the trunk to free up some underhood space. I have and Optima red-top and i found this mount kit especially for it, and it looks clean as hell...

I also found a 1 gauge battery cable kit as well which should be big enough, most recommend at least a 2 gauge wire.

Have any of you guys relocated your battery? If so, are there any pointers or tips that would help with the installation?? Thanks!

find a used subwoofer box and recarpet it and line it with plastic (inside) to make it look stealth in your trunk.

If you are cheap like me then go to a liquor store and get a wooden wine box and recarpet it

    Word!

Im thinking that the best way to run the cables would be though the car under the door threshold trim. Id like to see how someone else has routed the wiring.

Most racing/track organizations require relocated batteries to be in a special container, i.e. a sealed plastic container that vents/drains outside the passenger compartment/trunk. Summit Racing sells relocation kits for <$100.

Mine is in the trunk. I used 4 gauge wire and it works just fine. Took the fatory braces and made them work in the truck. Battery is located on the passeger side above the charcoal canisters towards the rear of the trunk. I ran the wires down the drivers side below the fuel lines and seperated the two with rubber material. A power distribution box connects the power wire to the rest of the factory wires in the engine bay. Frees up a lot of room and makes changing spark plugs a lot easier.

If you ever plan to drag the car, you will need a cut off switch as well. I would also highly recommend an inline fuse on the positive wire close to the battery.

I dunno about jonnyboy but with the FMIC piping running right thru there and the bigger Optima battery, it was a recipe for a boost leak. The piping was rubbing the battery a good bit.

Well the optima battery post locations are a little different causing the battery to sit a little crooked. And with meth, the meth pump is getting crammed between the crooked battery and the tank. I would just like to free everything up some. And with that billet mount in the trunk, it should be a pretty clean set-up. Id still like to see some pics of where some of you have mounted it just to get some ideas.

Yep. Steve at SMC inspected and it was a bad faulty seal. The new was sent back to me yesterday so I hope to get it tomorrow or Monday at the latest.

Yeah i had a broken test button on the front of the module, and he had it fixed and returned to me, no questions asked, in like 3 or 4 days. He does an awesome job!

But yeah, glad to hear you didnt have any engine damage because of it!

Yep. I realized I was DRINKING meth and then there was a hesitation right when the meth was supposed to come on. It would wait a second the then WHAM tq kicked in. It supposed to just go WHAM!

That was when I knew something was up. If there is the slightest thing different or funny I get paranoid and I am glad I do.
