1 can of your favorite beer Thyme Garlic Salt 1 orange 1 onion Pre-heat your oven ro 400 degrees. Cut the orange in half and squeeze it over the chicken. Cover the chicken with herbs. Try to get some of the herbs and seasoning under the chicken skin by pulling it away from the flesh and sprinkling some in there. Take the half of orange that you squeezed already and stuff it inside the chicken cavity. Cut the onion in half and stuff it in the cavity as well. Open up your beer can and stand it on your grill or oven pan. Then impale your chicken onto the beer can and stand it up. Now cook for 25 minutes or so or until done. Voila!
I had it for din din last night...and last Sunday..... We use any type of rub and rub it all over the outside of the chicken, last night we used Lawyrs seasoned salt. We also stuff a potato or onion in the neck to seal in the beer so it stays extra moist. With a 6-7 pound bird we heat the oven to 350 and cook for 1:45. It comes out perfect everytime. We also use a pie tin under the ChickCan rack to catch the drippings. Do you use a rack? I use this one:
Yep i do use something like that...but it's ghetto....I also bring the beer up to a boil first and use smaller cornish game hens.....cuts down on the cooking time a lot
Its fun to put different sodas and juices in the can and see what it tastes like. I've done pink lemonade, orange juice, various colas, its always a surprise.
I picked this up a while back on sale. http://www.amazon.com/Weber-Poultry...708506/ref=sr_1_2/103-7409218-0425449?ie=UTF8 It's easy cleanup and doesn't offgas chemicals from labels like aluminum cans. It's also a whole lot more sturdy and works well in the oven or on a grill.
