i made some friends after moving to SoCal and I can get the PSS9 at a really good price, but I used to run on ST coilovers on my wrx and liked them just fine, so I kind of know what I am getting into by going the KW route (whereas Bilstein is completely a new thing for me). I did find the ride a bit bouncy and was gonna get swift springs to match up when I had the ST coilovers but I sold the car . I have been going on rides to figure out which set up I like the best, but so far no one has the Bilsteins so I cannot make any judgement. The only thing that I was certain about is that I want JRZs after going for a ride in my friend`s car but that`s before I found out how much they cost haha. but all in all, it`s a same scenario as my wrx, I just want something with better dampening to keep the car more stable. the car will see 4-5 auto-x a year and maybe 2-3 track days a year (now that I`m in SoCal with cheaper track days). I have new wheels coming and my goal is to run on something like the hankook v12 evo or conti extreme contact.. performance tires with a bit of comfort still in mind, compared to what I used to run (hankook rs2, re01-r, etc) so I am kind of leaning towards the Bilsteins as it will give me more oomph than the stock set up, as the BRZ doesnt need a high spring rate to be able to go fast... the stock set up is just as good as a wrx with coilovers and sway bars in my opinion. one thing that makes it difficult to choose the Bilstein right away is that I might want to upgrade to stiffer Swift springs as the rates look very soft. lots of decision to be made here.. mono-tube vs twin-tube, adjustability vs fixed rates, etc. I feel like one ride in a bilstein set up car will answer my questions, but I thought I`d throw this out here and ask for some opinions. should I get the Bilstein from my friend for a cost of ST coilovers or save up a bit more and get the V3s? I`m also keeping a close eye on the Swift spec-R springs that will be released pretty soon... if they have decent rates it could also be an option. I personally think the BRZ is overdamped for its soft spring rates so I think it could use a bit more spring rate and this may actually fix the ride quality issue I`m having. please correct me and share the knowledge if you see anything wrong or you just disagree as i`m just an average joe. thanks.
Im just an average joe as well but for me the deal closer is the adjustability. I dont know how much of this "adjustability" id use in a real scenario but its good to know you can always have your suspension adjusted the way you want depending on what you are doing. My vote would be for the V3s. I don't know if you know about the RCE tarmac IIs but they are KW struts valved to compete with the KW Clubsports. They basically look like clubsports, just painted blue instead of yellow. Another advantage of the Tarmac 2s is the linear springs they come with as opposed to the V3s progressive. Look into the T2s as a possible choice! Edit* Compression AND rebound dampening adjustments as compared to most "adjustable" coilovers
