I registered Mere and I last night I hope to see more WRXatl people out there. It is a lot of fun, as they give you 6 runs. -- Brian
How does one become a member? I don't have a BMW and unless they bring the 1 series M edition over here, probably won't ever...plan on registering on the 17th though....
You don't have to own a bmw to be a member. You just need to pay them money and you can become a member. It costs $40 a year for the primary member and $5 extra for an associate member. This means that it cost my wife and I $45 a year, and we make back this savings in just over 2 autocross events with both of us paying $25 instead of $35. The membership lasts 1 year from the date you signup, and you get a free magazine in the mail with boring articles about BMWs. Also, they have started capping events at 60 cars, so in the future, if members take all 60 spots, then there will be no spots for non-members. -- Brian
$25 for members, $35 for non-members, payable through the website before the event (with paypal) Roundel is the free magazine... here is a great table of contents for this month's issue: http://www.bmwcca.org/members/AM/Template.cfm?Section=September_2005_Roundel The articles aren't too bad, but I don't bother wasting my time reading it. The halfway-decent articles are free on the website, such as this month's M5 article. -- Brian
Don't forget the article in Roundel two months ago saying women don't like to drive maunal transmission cars. I will not read roundel anymore!
BUMP. Registration is open for non-members! Sign up now!!!!! Attn Brian's wife, Amy: Do you still want to co-drive my STi? Register soon!
dang i wanna come! no can do though friggin work....good luck guys and lemme know if you or Brian when meredith! haha....hopefully i can get a sunday off soon!
Me too!!! Probably means I won't go to the Mazda event. Which, is most likely a good thing as I would then lust for a Miata again and potentially ruin my marriage and bankrupt myself trying to get one...
I'll be there with my pink wheels and people are welcome for rides. Milo i still need a ride in your car with it's new turbo!
What time is everyone showing up. The wife and I are going to come out and watch. If anyone is giving rides love to be extra weight
I always get better times with people in the car. I guess if you want to watch 10ish is best. I don't know the run work groups yet (they give that to you at registration) so i don't know when i'll be running.
this event was a lot of fun... getting 6 runs is awesome... it was nice meeting everyone and i enjoyed giving rides... hah at one point i had 4 people in my car ... hope to see more subies out next time :bigthumb:
Yes brian bet me again . Must buy 7-10s. Great runs everybody, oh brian's car died on the way home so his times don't count .
my cooling fan stopped 1/2 way through the event, so it was overheating a bit. It would be fine if I turned the engine off between runs and let it cool. I decided to drive it home, and it started overheating on the way home. I had about 1.5 miles to the Jimmy Carter exit, so I decided to keep on going. When I was about 100 yards from where the Chevron station, it just decided that it was too hot, and blew up. It still cranks over, but squirts out oil from between the block and head. I hope the head isn't warped, as it is all ported/polished/milled vs the my spare head. I guess I will have to pull it and fine out. Anyone have an engine hoist that I can borrow? I have an extra engine, so this isn't a big deal... just a setback. -- Brian
dang brian sorry to hear that glad you guys had fun today and good luck with the fixing the CRX! sorry i missed you guys today as well i wanted to come.
Brian, I've got an engine hoist you can borrow. Let me know and we'll see if we can't get it out to you. Sounds like everyone had a good time though.
My times were: 59.673 +3 56.047 55.562 +2 55.303 +1 54.960 +2 55.585 Hopefully I can get the car up and running again soon, and also put the new LSD in it. Mere's times were: 59.062 57.681 57.613 57.508 58.130 57.422 +2 I just realized that I was the 5th fastest car out there today not bad for a 20yr old car. (plus the scca guys weren't present) -- Brian
Sorry to hear about the car Brian!! You were driving the wheels off of it though. I was getting faster every run, so a few more and I think I would have cracked 57's. I guess I will need to ask for an up/dp and AP for XMAS after all...Oh, and grats Milo, we need to get you a beaded seat protector and a meter for the next event. That way, you can charge fares.... I also like how Brian posted Merediths times!!! :hsnono:

Milo.......good to meet you Sunday (Bob here with the Pantera). Great runs you had, and look forward to seeing ya next time out there! (may stop out the morning of your mt run to say hi)
I got second slowest for my class... but at least I beat the automatic GTO there!! :bigthumb: Oh yeah, and who was it that came up and talked to me? I was pretty out of it and didn't think to ask you for your forums name. Some day I'll actually get some sleep the night before an autocross.
glad u signed up here... i had a lot of fun at the BMWCCA event and will definitely attend more of them next year... hope to see u ta the mountain run... a link to the thread is in my signature PS: ur car sounds awesome... i bet its a killer at the track... i'd love to go for a ride sometime
Yes congrats milo! personally i think since the crx is blown it would be a great time to turbo it, or atleast get a booster seat for me . I think brian might co-drive my car for the few last events left.
