I installed the factory (lamco) boost gauge last night. I got it from Troncalli - Brian matched subarugenuineparts.com price - Thanks!.

Install wasn't too bad, but it took longer than I thought. Took about 2 hours. Biggest pain - getting the T connector installed into the line coming off the BOV. Anyone have a trick on this - I used a heat gun and a little silicon spray - neither made it easy. I imagine taking the IC off would have given me more room, but I really didn't want to do that.

I still need to hook up the backlight. Too tired to do that last night.

Anyway I like being able to see what is happening regarding boost. I didn't realize that it is so throttle dependent (I thought mostly RPM). Also, I notice there is not too much boost in 1st gear - normal for an '02 WRX? I guess with the gearing of 1st, you wouldn't want too much or it would become undriveable. I am seeing 13-14 psi (close to 0.1 mpa indicated) in 3rd though.

rpm is throttle dependant so it all goes hand in hand.

on stock wrx's boost is limited in 1st and 2nd gears. after that the boost is opened up to what you are currently seeing

IIRC its something like 7.5psi in first, 10 in second, then 13.5 in 3rd-5th.

how much did the boost gauge run you if you dont mind me asking?

It is the SPT gauge. Subarugenuineparts.com = $182.50 - Troncalli sold for $190 (he said they would have added shipping - true).
