anyone have any clues as to what could be causing this? the boost only spikes when it is raining outside. does it in every gear...coming home on the interstate today running 80 mph around 3000 rpm...it felt like it wsa goign to shut off on me. almost like the motor was having misfire issues...but it only does it when it is raining. went through a drive through carwash earlier this week and noticed the same thing for the first few minutes...so it seems to stop after everything is dry...i am lost at this point and really don't want to get rid of the car...but at this point i can't drive it in the rain...so i might as well have a motorcycle!
What intake is on the car? When I ran a TXS short ram I had similar issues. I wasn't running the air duct that went from over the radiator to the stock airbox. With out this piece the intake would get wet.
I think the problem is bring caused by something getting wet It sounds to me like it might be electrical. Next time it is doing it get under the hood and look for water near the major electrical connectors. Siegel
i think its the mass air meter getting wet. i remember i had that problem even with the stock box once or twice on there when it was really raining. but noticed it alot more with that ghetto intake.
haha ghetto intake...ok well i will go ahead and swap it out then as per planned and see if that makes a difference.
knew i could count on you with the ingenious answer!! haha this is something that CTRL I won't fix!
yeah long story on that intake. basically it was originally on greg's car, but chin (hsuphotography/1naplay) had a cold air he didn't want. so the three of us traded, chin got the stock box, greg got the cold air and i got the short ram. my plans were to eventually go back to a stock box, but never did before i sold the car. jamey you need to put the stock box back on there anything else wouldn't fix this problem and would probably require a retune anyways.
I agree...although I have never experienced this specifc issue (problems only when it is raining), the description of your symptoms sounds exactly like a MAF that is fouled up...or in this case...wet. While you are in there, pull your MAF and see if it is dirty.
