Bouncy EGT Guage

So it's been a while since my EGT guage started acting weird and I stopped driving the car. Slowly I've been troubleshooting it.

Checked the sensor end and things look fine and I made sure it's not loose or anything.

Checked the guage end and every wire seems to be good, nothing loose or totally disconnected.

What else can I do to troubleshoot this aside from taking it some place that can see if the EGT is in the correct range and my guage is f*ed up? The AP2 doesn't have any readings for that so that's no help.

    Any help is appreciated.

    Thanks, Russell

do you have any electrical splices in the engine bay? sometimes these can become corroded. most of the circuits are based on measurements of resistance (basically an RTD) and having corrosion and intermittent connections will cause this

Check that the voltage is consistent to the gauge. Like Nicad said, check your grounds and splices. Any sort of variance in the voltage or resistance will change the reading, very similar to how our headlights dim when you roll your windows up or bass hits, or get brighter when you get on boost.
