I found this special from SSautochrome. http://ssautochrome.com/level.itml/icOid/1291 It has pretty good review on nasioc. Does anyone here has this fmic??
It is IDENTICAL to the TurboXS unit. The same company makes the HUGE TMIC that is a copy of the hyperflow TXS unit. My buddy Daniel has the TMIC on his car and it works great. Daniel said that SS was surprised with it. I know a friend that bought one but got the wrong core. I don't know if it was from SSAutoChrome but it was in NC which is where SSAC is located. However I noticed one flaw.....the piping is made out of stainless steel. Why is stainless steel a flaw? Heat soak. Where my Perrin piping is made out of aluminum, it is also very thin and fragile. The stainless steel is stronger and it comes with superb 4 ply couplings and tbolt clamps (a must!) but it also soaks and holds heat bad. You can fix that however by either ceramic coating the piping or heat wrapping the piping like I did mine.
I have the SSAC top mount on my car. It works great and actually fits like it's supposed to. I don't know about the front mount though but NASIOC guys gave it good reviews.
Yea theres a thread on this on NASIOC ive been following it for sometime.Seems to be a good deal and works fine. The 02/03 owners have had to cut some places for ti to fit right but afterwards it comes out nice. 04/05 fits fine and 06 same as 04/05. I think a friend of mine just ordered his if anyone is interested in this FMIC once he gets it and we get it put on ill let you know how much of a pain it was.
just remeber that the there fmic doesnt look like it comes with a bov so you mite have spend some extra cash for it
scott will tune for anything... how good of a tune and how long it takes will depend on quality of parts... from what i hear, this product has no known flaws so i doubt it should be a problem
Scott tuned Daniels car with the SSAC TMIC. Never dyno'ed it but it feels like it definately has 310/300. Its a VF34 with Meth inj. with a Protune.
+1 from me. I got mine from Moose, though I would've ordered it anyway. There's a huge thread on Nasioc about it... http://forums.nasioc.com/forums/showthread.php?t=909584 I say do eeettt!! you'll be happy with it. No pressure problems for me either.
so what's the real safety issue with FMIC?? I know that it's involved with removing front bumper beam.
That front bumper beam is only a 5 mph bumper beam. The SSAC kit comes with another bumper beam that is trimmed to make the FMIC fit just like my Perrin kit did.
I wouldn't call it a bumper beam but it's more like core mounting bracket Mine's made out of aluminum lol
The Perrin FMIC bumper beam is 1000x better than that one. The SSAC one looks identical to the TXS one, as mentioned already. I have pics here
They suck haha They should've at least took some time to measure out everthing to have the intercooler core mounted centered. I still had to modify the bracket to have the core centered (still off little) after spending tons of money on it lol
I got into a heated arguement with someone one time about the pros and cons of the TurboXS FMIC vs the Perrin FMIC. The Perrin can be a little overkill but dang it looks good and soon enough I'll be using EVERY bit of that IC when I go 2.5L. The only thing I like about the TXS unit vs the Perrin is the one pipe that starts at the turbo. The Perrin runs under the throttle body pipe and it is a PAIN to get it on and not rub on anything whereas the TXS one has a silicone coupler that bends it out of the way.
I had to center mine as well, it's detailed in the pics I linked in my first post (bottom of page 2).
i head about a problem with a 90 degree elbow. Im about to order this hopefully i can find pics of it installed on an 03 and see if that will actually be an issuse or not.
im also tring to find the adapter so i can use my stock BPV for now. and then i shall order it and if i need the elbow you will hear form me..
May as well heat wrap and/or ceramic coat all of the piping. It's all stainless steel so it'll soak in and retain heat pretty bad. It holds heat so bad that the hood will be scorching hot to the touch where the piping runs. Just a heads up.
