I've got a 2002 wrx not much modification. I've had it since about Christmas - running smooth till recently. Now I get an intermitent "bucking" (constant pedal, engine pwr low, then it surges, then goes back to low pwr again). I also get a "missing" feeling at higher rpms. Any experience? Any directions to go with this? Thanks

    coil packs or unmetered air.

Vac leak, dirty MAF. Being a Bugeye, would think age and heat cycles has killed a rubber fitting or hose first.

Wonder where you got this idea from

Check the maf, they have a tendency to go nutty in the summer for no real apparent reason (maybe heat related).

yeah heat related (causing misfires, especially in the higher rpms). either your maf is wet (did you recently recharge a K&N filter? too much oil can cause this OR did you recently drive thru a big puddle?) or you have an air leak in the intake AFTER the maf.
