    want your opinions

Basically i wanna know what the best supplements to tone my muscles are without requiring a lot of weight training. I just want to promote muscle growth now that i am down to a better weight (lost 24lbs over 3 months by cutting out a lot of crap, not eating big meals before bed and doing a little more consistent exercising). I am looking for a shake or something to add to my daily routine to just get a little muscle, not looking to get huge or even cut. just more muscle and less fat. muscle milk? syntha-6? or something completely different? remember i don't need to lose any more weight, just want to keep the fat gone and slowly replace it with lean muscle...

    thanks,

    -Jake

There is no magic potion. You have to lift or exercise to gain muscle. Unless you go illegal and get HGH (human growth hormones) which can and will seriously mess ya up.

lol, i walk/run on a semi-regular basis. and do pushups/situps daily. but i dont have the money for a gym membership. i just want what i do, to produce some results. and since i don't want huge bulgy muscles, i know not to expect them from the small amount of exercise i do

basically i'm thinking some kind of protein, to promote overall health and keep those extra 20lbs from finding their way back

I see what you want but trust me without work you just ain't gonna get it.

I used to body build....I was never huge but I was lean and ripped all up. Now I'm just a fat tub of lard that sits behind a desk. If I can only lose the gut I've developed I'd be happy.

yeah, i used to work out like 5 times a week in high school. never got big, just had lean muscle. which i like. wouldn't mind getting some abs. thats about the extent of it. my legs are in great shape, and i dont want huge arms. thats why i think situps and pushups are enough.

is protein not recommended if im not doing anything other than that?

    sorry i am a newb

If you don't have money for a gym, then don't wast your money on protein supplements. The protein in normal food in a good diet will be quite sufficient.

Also, there is no single workout plan that will work indefinitely. As time goes by, your body will get used to a workout and your gains will plateau, then you will need to change up the workout. For example, you can do 100 pushups a a day and you will get stronger for a while, then you will stop getting stronger. At that point, you change the exercise by increasing resistance or doing a different variation.

This applies to any aspect of fitness - strength, endurance, or flexibility. The best thing for your body is to account for all three of these things in your workout plan.

yeah i knew that from weight training. i used to do progressive weight amounts (i.e. 50reps of 25lbs, 25reps of 50lbs, then 10reps of 75lbs or something similar). and when that was too easy for me i'd bump up the reps or the weight, depending on the muscle group

Like everyone else has said, there is no magic potion that will make you just instantly gain lean muscle. You have to work on it. Taking the supplements without working out will not do you any good and will probably make you gain weight. Especially stuff like Muscle Milk. What is that old saying...oh yeah...No Pain No Gain:)

I take mm because I've been trying to gain weight forb the past year. Id suggest against it if you aren't actually doing any weight training.

If anything workout at home, doing the basics. Invest $15 of some resistance bands with handles and do stuff at home. Youde be amazed at the variety you can do just with some bands...search youtube for band workouts.

If anything for you, id say some all natural whey protein from whole foods would be sufficient

You should only take the Whey Protein up to 30 minutes AFTER you workout. Or you could just eat some scrambled egg whites instead. The protein is there to help your muscles rebuild and grow. It really doesnt do much good for muscle growth after the first 30 minutes after you do a workout. Hell, I have read reports where they say a glass of chocolate milk does just as much good as any recovery drink does.

Jake...trust me I know, you have to work out to gain muscle, period. If you stretch hard enough, you'll tear muscle, hence rebuilding it, but you're not going to notice any gains.

There are three types of proteins...do NOT take whey protein if you are not working out - you will just get fat. Syntha-6 is good stuff, it has all three types of proteins and promotes great muscle growth...ASSUMING you work out.

If looking fit required no effort, there would be no fat people in the world...you have to work out, period. Call me if you want, I can give you some good palates and body weight workouts I used for strength gain.

Trust me...it's hard being as sexy as I am
