i'm going to be getting my turboXS front mount soon and was wondering if there is a CAI that i can run with it. i was looking at the Perrin CAI cause i'm getting the turbo inlet pipe and the shortie pipe but they say that you can't run the CAI with a front mount. also, is the whole "shorts ram intakes are bad because of heat soak" thing true?

Not sure about the CAI but if your tuned the short ram should be fine. I would for sure put the heat shield in though!

They are not much worse at all than the stocker with a heat shield. One thing I found was that while they did get hotter quicker than the stock one, they also cooled off much quicker as well. This was on a metal short ram...not sure about some of the plastic ones out there now. I assume they would be similar to the stock as they are made from like materials.

I wanna say I've seen an aps model that works with front mounts because I remember it being crinkle red. It's been a while tho. 4sevens had a custom one on his limited we just tore down.

Fender well is still better...just not by the HUGE amount that everyone makes it out to be. 5 degree cooler air will make some difference. The main thing that I have seen is the design. You can have a poorly designed CAI or a great short ram...but there are CAI that work with FMICs. I just depends what hole in the fender the FMIC goes through. I don't remember about the tsx. Just make sure there is a decently straight piece of tubing before and after the MAF sensor...or go blow through!
