I've been doing some research and can't find too much about installing a set of cams in the ole WRX. Can anyone point me in the right direction for this? I've been tossing it around and this may happen for me this summer. If it does I will want to do the work myself, not just to save money but I actually like to work on cars. Is it going to be direct replacement or are there other modifications that I need? I would do valve springs at the same time that much I do know.

Thanks for helping me learn guys,
    Michael

Cams is a big job on the WRX. It can be done in the car but you may as well pull the engine. Stage 1 cams usually can use the stock valvetrain but anything bigger requires springs and retainer upgrades. I'm waiting to hear about the Brian Crower kit but LOTs of people are having success with the DPR kits.

Nah I just downloaded the service manuel and I think I can swing it. I just have to line everything up when I am putting everything back togeather and make sure to check everything twice or three times. I'm thinking that I'll wind up with a set of 264's this summer for some reason:naughty: and some upraded valve springs. I'm doing this before I boost the hell out of my car.

You can't rev the stock bottom end reliably. The crank needs to be modified to do so. I've had a lot of long discussions with Ron at Axis and he said that both the heads and the bottom end needs to be modified to rev high.
