Cant' hit over 10lbs of boost

I can't hit over 10lbs of boost with my setup and a stock WRX axel back. The car is really quite but nowhere near as peppy as it used to be.


I am really torn between the peaceful quietness of the stock axel back and the 120 decibel ear splitting powerful loudness of the Perrin twin tip.

 

Mike get a Greddy Evo2 'axleback'. Mine is quiet. If you want to hear it I'll be in Atlanta 'very' soon for a retune on ELH.

 

whaddiya do with your perrin?
10lbs should not hurt our tranny, I think.
any updates on the ppg you were looking into?

 

i can hit more than 10psi, at least thats what my boost gauge tells me. And in third gear i cant hit more than 8. I think my boost gauge is off.

 

he's got FAAAAAAAR more mods and power than your measly stock wrx set up

EDIT: Mike, in that case I don't think I will be using the STI axel back then. You should try the cut out you mentioned.

The Perrin sounds really great, albeit a bit loud, even I agree with that. Is it really 120 decibels?!?! That's ridiculous. lol

It was 120db on the dyno when the external gate opened up. With the stock wrx axel back it can't build enough boost to open it even when I have the AVCR off.

I am going to leave the stock one on until I can get some ppg's. Unfortunately the guy I was going to get a tranny from sold it to someone else. The good news though is the dollar is strengthening. The same ppg set that would have cost 4885 shipped from Australia is now 4325 shipped. Another 6 cents and it will be 4k and time to buy.

 

My Stromung is not very loud and flows nicely! I don't know if that would solve your issue, it's defintely not a 3" setup!

Do you still have an aftermarket BOV? I've got an extra stocker if you want to try one. I know when I had a blow off valve I had a major leak and then put the stock one on and was all fixed.

Get the Blitz Nur Spec TOURING (not Race). I have it and LOVE it. You don't even know its there while riding in the car and on the highway. Perfect exhaust. If you are power hungry, remove the mid pipe taper for a few extra ponies.

 

I couldn't take the silence any longer. The Perrin is back on.


I'll save the stocker for when I have to get emissions.
