Okay, others may not be that excited about it, but I am. It will be the first time I really get to see how the Konis do. I may also end up with eccentric camber bolts if they can't get a decent performance alignment with the stock hardware. It'll cost more, but its should be a one time cost and make a big difference in the way the car handles. Also got a rental Legacy Wagon. Even though its not the GT, it is still verrry nice. Wish I could talk my wife into a wagon!

I've been meaning to get an alignment, how much does it cost?

Wellllll, there is the rub. I wanted the performance alignment and talked to Scott after I had already paid for the regular alignment ($89.95) I may end up with the Camber bolts which would cost $60 for parts and $95 for labor so it could balloon to somewhere close to $300. I assume I would then also be charged for the performance alignment, which I am sure is more than the regular alignment....

speaking of handling, milo do you have the EDFC yet?

nope... someone showed me how to get to all the damper controls without actually taking the back seats off and without any tools... takes me 2 min to set the dampers... just cant do it while moving but i dont think i need the EDFC so much so justify $300+

Well I'm excited to know how they handle! :wiggle: These will most likely be my next purchase after the TBE... assuming they're worth the $$.

Not to worry buddy. You got right near 1.6 degrees all the way around for the $89.99. I stretch where I can to get the $149 performance alignment numbers for the stardard cost of $89.99.

The performance alignments often take 2+ hours, which makes the $149 a deal ;)

Yep, thanks Scott! I almost called back and told you to put the Camber Bolts on no matter what, but I am glad I didn't! Looked for you to say thanks, but you were gone to lunch. I only got to take one hard turn on the way back to work, but it tracked much better than before! The konis/STi springs and a more agressive alignment really transform the car. Can't wait for the Subbie Challenge to really push it!

The 1.5 all around is pretty much all the wrx can get stock anyway, right? What's the stock alignment supposed to be at?

    Can you explain the process?

My basic understanding of the process is that the alignment machines use a laser based system. Each wheel gets a gyroscope of sorts that has one of the sensors in it. There is a central machine that reads the sensor inputs. Hope this is making some sense...The car is up in the air, and you're underneath it adjusting the camber/caster of your wheels. The more you push the camber, the more the wheel tilts in and the sensor picks up on this and reads a degree from the axis. That should make a bit of sense I hope.

I dontknow if you're looking for more like, "what is an aligment" or what though...

Sorry, I forgot to put a Quote in my post. I was asking for someone to explain the process of adjusting the rear dampers with out removing the seat.

u have to take ur seat off one time to set it up

    1) take off the bottom of the seat
    2) remove all the bolts at the bottom of the back rest (don't remove the back rest)
    3) put the bottom of the seat back in and bolt it down

now the seat will feel just as sturdy as before when u sit in it... now

    1) go to one extreme side of the backrest
    2) hold it at the top and bottom
    3) pull it up and then towards u

this way u can get one side unlocked... pull the top of that side towards u and theres enough room to fit ur hand thru to get to the dampers and adjust them... when ur done, simply pull the end up and then away from you and it will lock into place

hope this explanation is clear... if not, let me know if u see me at a meet and i'll show u

Thank you Alex for your explanation, ;) I was trying to decide how much ck02 really wanted to know about the process of aligning, then I figured that wasn't what he had meant to ask because he spent like 3 hours with me corner balancing and aligning a couple of weeks ago... ;)

ck02, every time I see that 12.3 at 111 I'm impressed. How's that Hydra treating you?

I have had the Hydra for over 1 year and have been very happy with it. I need to tune it for all the changes I've mad and take it back to the track. I'm also very happy with the alignment and corner weight adjustments you made on my car. Now the car is more fun to around around corners but I need some better brakes, which should arrive on the 22nd.
