Will the gas station car washes mess my wing? I only use one with soft foam rollers, but im wondering if the roller could dammage my wing. Thanks !
i dont have an sti but i wouldnt trust those gas station car washes with rollers. all i could imagine is that roller hitting the wing and the trunk lid denting from the wing being pushed from the rollerhnoes:
no rollers is better b/c then you don't get tiny little scratches on your car either. i wouldn't think high pressure streams would hurt the wing. i prefer do it all by hand though and if i don't have time to do it by hand i just have to let my car be dirty a little longer
anything with a brush is a major no no if you love your car. Not all the cars that go through the wash is clean like yours Imagine a guy that went off roading ws right before yours As for High pressure - im not a fan of that either if water gets into crevices where its not suppose and stays in there - guess what. If you dont have time to wash your car its ok to leave it dirty - IMHO
it drains out or dries up? The only thing I'm careful about with pressure sprayers is not to get it too close to the paint. My first rock chip on the front bumper, I thought it was a bug...held the pressure washer a couple inches from it and a nice chunk of paint went flying
i used to go through the pressure washers all the time.. back in ohio. now i just hand was it. pressure washer never did anything to my car.. came out just fine
I don't think I'd go through one of the gas station car washes with the wing.... it's strong but whos to say it's that strong. If you had a smaller wing or none at all, I wouldn't sweat it, but that's a big risk to take.
I have an Sti replica type wing and I have had trouble with the dryer at certain washes catching on the wing.
Hand Car wash FTW! There are several places around town, namely one on Roswell, North of 285, which does hand wash for $30 and it's very very good job. Done it twice so far and been happy with it.
i go to the do-it-yourself place with the pressure washer... and i wash the brush with the pressure washer before i start
I usually take mine to a hand wash. Either Mammoth on Highway 9 (alpharetta), or Scotts Auto Centre on Peachtree Parkway. I have never dared take mine into an automagic car wash...think I would burst into tears if my wing were ripped off
+1 for paying for a handwash... They shut down my apt complex car wash station every winter. So, I go to Mammoth on Hwy 9 and pay... $18 for the outside and $23 for the whole car plus tip. In a real pinch I'll use the quarter places buy your really risking it, the brushes will scratch your paint and the pressure blasts all your wax off...
^^ not everyone has access.... I live in any apt complex that has a carwash that is still closed for the winter. So, I either have to pay for a hand wash or roll dirty...........
I live in an apartment as well, with no access to water... I hate it! However, car wash that you go to that had workers do it by hand, are obviously best!
^^^^ Me 2, I usually pay for a hand wash... It's kinda pricy though so I can't do my usual once a week wash.
