I've been searching teh googlez for almost 4 hours trying to find the specific cause of my P0021 code (Camshaft Position Timing advanced on Bank2)

    My results are as follows:
    1) banjo bolt filters that feed the AVCS (filters sucked into the tube)
    2) Timing belt jumped teeth/tooth
    3) bad oil/dirty oil

    2004 Fozzie XT 2.5L turbo, 91K miles, 5spd

I picked up the banjo bolts with copper washers and plan to replace those this evening. if this doesn't resolve the issue, then on to the Gates timing belt kit, ordered today.

Any help as to what might be the cause would be appreciated!

tried option one: both banjo bolts were showing the screens sucked into the motor
removed screens, reset ECU, and restarted car...did not fix issue
I think it may have jumped time or the AVCS unit is thrashed

    Update: problem fixed for $6
Oem copper washers. Appears that my year model fozzy has filters in the banjo bolts feeding the avcs units. Well, it has been said to remove these as a precaution. I pulled ds unit and it wa demolished. Pulled the PS one and it had been sucked out of the bolt.

Extracted all I could out of both sides. Tried it and still having the same issues. I then pulled the avcs unit on the DS since the filter was demolished. It had pieces of plastic and filter screen in its. Cleaned it and ensured the actuation worked properly. Re-installed, reset tr ECU and tah-dah, issue resolved.

Only cost was the new copper washers on both sides of the banjo bolts.

Good luck peeps and pull those filters!!!
