So I checked my stocker air filter, and it was dirty as hell. I went to Advance Auto and picked up a K&N filter since they were having that 25% off sale. All I can say now is, wow! I didn't realize what a difference in power, spool up response can change dramatically from changing it. And yes I do know what an air filter does. One question though...with ecutek am I okay with the drop K&N filter since the car has more air coming in? I was told by SS that If i went cold air that I'd have to retune it. But what about the drop k&n?
Yeah man I got a k&n and was really surprised with the difference...I would not think it would effect your tune but im not sure
there is a cleaner kit by k&n you tap the dust off the filter, soak it with the spray cleaner, rinse and let dry (natural dry) and then there is an oil you spray on it
yeah...it comes w/ the lubrication on it. after time, when you clean it, the you get the spray stuff after its cleaned.
^good point! it comes oiled, but not enough to mess with the maf initially. just when you clean it, don't overkill it w/ the cleaner that k&n sells.
K&N FTW...I always use their products....both air and oil filters....Scotty B told me about them a while back. Mark
I swapped to a k&n filter over a year ago, and about a couple of weeks ago, I realized that I hadn't cleaned it at all since I installed it I hosed it off with a high pressure hose, then blew the rest of the crap off with my air compressor, and lubed it up with k&n filter oil. Man, the car pulls much better now, and I didn't realize what the car was missing It just wasn't pulling as hard up top before. To those who swap or install aftermarket air filters that are re-usable, please remember to clean them -- Brian
