Cheap direct replacement for the Perrin EBCS

First of all my Perrin EBCS is leaking. The rubber seal at the top of it has dry rotted from the heat in the engine bay and upon inspection it crumbled in my hands and now is useless. So I do some research and find out that the Perrin EBCS is basically a rebadged Grainger part (almost).

A guy on Nasioc had a tune for the Perrin EBCS and his died. He bought this Grainger part and the car works absolutely the same and NOTHING in the logs has changed and his car runs just like it did with the Perrin EBCS.

So why spend $80-100 on a 'name brand' part that is essentially a rebadge part? Savings is a whopping $60+!

I've talked to Doug@Topspeed and he was very interested about this. I think I'm going to go ahead and order this and Doug can tune my car with it and tell his impression on it if he likes.

You can also pretty much use the GM boost solenoid but I'm going to try this. Also with it being completely aluminum and with the brass vaccum fittings I like that better than the brittle plastic fittings that the Perrin unit used.

More to come after April 12th......

Its a little diffrent than engine management don't you think.

no i dont need any support from them in fact i like the grainger one better among them(because of the $) but the prodrive has an edge because its plug and play.

But you do have to becareful switching from a bleed type to a 3 port type.

Just like everything - you run the risk of using a part thats not OEM.

    just making things complicated.
SO ! what if the BCS does not open and your building boost quicker than you can see the boost gauge pegging at 25psi and next thing you know CEL and smoking - Will Grainger replace the part or your beloved toy. - smiles

    Nope and Neither will Prodrive

I don't know why you think I'm against Open ECU, I love open ecu. I just understand when people don't want to use it.

Ummm you have to worry about that with any aftermarket BCS. :) And if you have a tune that's worth anything it'll hit boost cut and save ya :)

I'm pissed that I found out about the Grainger about 2 weeks after I bought my EBCS last summer.

I have been using the GM one for a while now...think it was around $30 and it works great! It is also a 3 port interrupt style like the perrin and the Prodrive. Oh and the knocking that everyone complains about with these...it doesn't exist in any way shape or form if you take the time to mount it right!
