hey whats up guys. I just got my wrx on the 7th and am looking forward to doing some mods... so far i am thinking about 1) injen cai 2)greddy evo exhaust 3)flexable uppipe (thought i need to find one) 4) injen fmic... the stealth version 5) greddy bov. I am also looking for wheels ...... i want to get gunmetal but all i have found so far are ugly.... anyway good to finally be on the boards and tell me what you think about my ideas/ i am really in need of opinions as i know noone with a wrx and cant seee or hear what my ideas sound like......
Welcome to the forums! On the flex uppipe, PDE makes one (www.pde-usa.com) some guys on the forums have that installed. I don't know if there's another flex UP or not. I can't say about the rest of the suggestions. Hope the mods go well though, they're a lot of fun to install (and very addicting).
Welcome, I have the Greddy Sp2, and there is another user with the EVO, both are nice exhausts, good choice! All looks good there so far, just plan your engine management if you are going fmic.
i have looked at the greddy e-manage but cannot decide that and the fmic will most likly come later after smaller mods such as a timer and stereo...ect..
oh another question about hte exhaust .. is the eevo obnoxiously loud... people have told me this but as i said i havnt ever heard one..
Must people here have ecutek or cobb AP. We have two great shops in the Atlanta area that would be able to do either. Streettuner is an Accessport add on that is good for the self tuner as well. About the EVO2, the new all stainless is supposed to be a bit louder than the older version(EVO). The SP1 and SP2 are a tad quieter than the EVO. Both are fairly quiet.
Hi, and welcome. I would pass on the BOV and FMIC for now. You won't need these until you go to some more serious modifications (turbo upgrade). I would also recommend adding a downpipe to your list; it'll free up more power than a catback. We're having an install day on the 25th; if you can attend you'll get to see/hear a variety of cars and mods.
whta time on the 25th i will have to work at three in midtown.... i could come early if that is at al lpossible
welcome to the club! im with moose i would suggest a down pipe unless your looking at a turbo back. with most of the dp's out there your deleting 2 cats. with just a catback your keeping them. you have to remember we have 3 cars on our cars.
welcome to the club man..to be honest uppipe/downpipe is the best power mod for the money right now for you..thats what i would recommend
Welcome, welcome! This is Alex (Adminstrator), I'm over here at Milo's place. Anyways, everyone has their own two cents on what should be done first, and second, etc. I thought I would add my own thoughts. I feel that there are 5 items which should be installed to fullly ultilize the stock limits (which are great) of the car. 1. Up Pipe: You can either gut this yourself, or go for a flex pipe. Whatever you do, do not get a solid one. 2. Down Pipe: Catted or non-Catted. It doesnt really make a performance difference. Bellmouth is the way to go. 3. Steering Rack Bushing: The magic juju for our cars. 4. Front Sway Bar: Adjustable is the way to go, slightly smaller than rear 5. Rear Sway Bar: Three way adjustable, your choice of size (larger) Optional: Get a performance alignment, should run you $150. You'll notice a definite difference.
Flex vs solid is like the religious holy wars. I personally feel more confident in a solid pipe, but it really comes down to personal preference. I know tuners who claim every solid pipe leaks; I know tuners who claim every flex pipe eventually leaks. Other than that I agree with this list... I wanted to add: you can remove the stock intake silencer if you want a bit of blow-off-valve sound... it's free and won't mess with anything.
im glad at least 1 person suggested suspension... i would also recommend upgrading ur brake pads to the bob cats... improves stopping significantly... also suspension mods will be very rewarding... i love the way coil overs feel but they might be too stiff for some... i'll take u for a ride in my car at a g2g
yeah, Christer (moose) and myself are working on making up a ultra cheap and cheap list of mods, stay tuned for that soon
welli have planned onsuspensionmodsas well.... nut i came froma camaro so for nowthis thinghandle better thanihavefor a long time... andispent about 2k on suspension for the chevy....
right nowiamjust looking for intake exhasut upgrades ..... the other stuff i will do later.... i am still waiting on an insurance check from my wreck so that i can buy some mods
1st mod should be a rear sway bar 20mm and up to even out front to back. then a set of camber bolts for the rear(35) and a performance alignment(120). Doing this will make a HUGE difference in the feel and handling of the car.
yeah i have to agree the wheels/tire package sux.... that andthe windoware also going to bedone as soonas the money come in
i've got the greddy evo2 and i love it, it's really quiet at first. thne you start doing a lot of mods and it gets louder. i'm running an UP and a catless DP, midpipe to the evo2 so it's picked up some volume, but it's still not too loud. It just lets you know i mean business when I give it some juice. i've also got gunmetal rims if you wanna check mine out at the install day. and as far as mods go i wouldn't go with the greddy em system, a timer, or a BOV at the moment. there's a lot better soloutions out there for you. here's a good guide: http://www.wrxtuners.com/tech.php most people generally agree with stuff said on this site. welcome!
thanks for the link .... gave me some great ideas..... this is the first turbo engine i have ever delt with so all this is new to me ...... i have had all n/a before and i understand the modding process on them ... i wasnt sure what things are Really important on turbos thanks again
