I'm looking for some suggestions on how to handle my squeaking issue. While idling untouched, the area around the slave cylinder/clutch fork emits an annoying squeaking (sounds like a belt squeak). If I apply slight pressure to the clutch, the squeaking goes away. I thought it was the throwout bearing at first, but after further diagnosis it appears to the clutch fork. Apparently the clutch fork has about 1/4" worth of play and with the engine vibration, squeaks. I applied some lithium grease to the clutch fork and the squeak went away, only to return after few days. It does seem like the clutch fork boot needs to be replaced, but I dont think this has anything to do with it. Just wondering if anyone else has encountered this problem and what they did to fix it. This is on a 1998 2.5RS. Thanks for looking!

My clutch pedal squeeks but not the fork. 1/4" of play is a lot. When I installed my new clutch I did not have any play issues. Are you sure the size of the tab holding the fork to throw out bearing is correct?

Rather normal, sorry to say. Install heavier grease on the fork. That should do it.

Thanks for the input guys. I will see if I can find a thicker grease than the lithium stuff that I got. I guess it may be time for a louder exhaust. :)

You should probably just sell the car to me for cheaps. I'll trade you a set of JDM WRX f/r seats for it.
