So I finally have an appointment with Topspeed to get a act street clutch put on the rex. But I'm a little nervous about my clutch surviving until next monday. So I'm just kind of curious, how bad does it get before it finally goes? As of now, my clutch really doesn't slip that often going into 2nd or higher gears (although it does on occasion), it's more of a starting from a stop problem. It's almost impossible to get moving on level ground or uphill without getting a shuddering feel in the car (the same sort of feel you get when it's about to stall). So i've got one more week of moderate driving left until the new clutch and possibly one interstate trip from here to augusta. So I'm just trying to get an opinion from some of you more experienced drivers what the final signs of the clutch dying are.
when mine started slipping, i didnt have problems with shifting... the issues were at WOT in the higher gears
Really? So it never took longer to engage when getting on it? When you are saying slipping at wot, you mean you'd just be going and then all of a sudden the engine would start revving? Damn I'm starting to worry that it's not my clutch that's the problem. Anyone ever driven a clutch until it finally just died? I'm trying to get a feel for how much longer I have left on it. I've never experienced slipping in high gears, but then again I'm usually much more likely to make a pull from 0-70 as opposed to high speed ones on the interstate, so I don't really see wot that much in the upper gears, I'm way more likely to see wot in 2nd.
i noticed slippage when i tried launching it at the strip... that was way before it started slipping in gear exactly... this would be more pronounced at peak torque too mine never completely died but it started to slip in gear so i went ahead and upgraded it
