Just installed, have to say there isn't a very noticeable difference in overall power, but it comes on quicker and it is much smoother. I also LOVE how they adjusted the throttle by wire system so that it isn't as much like an on/off switch. Idle seems a bit smoother too.
yeah sounds about right...the Cobb OTS maps are gonna be more conservative, that's why peeps get protuned or street tuner
IAM - Ignition Advance Multiplier (part of the ECU's engine control scheme) theres a sticky in the noob section for acronyms: http://www.wrxatlanta.com/forums/showthread.php?t=4929 I know because I had to look it up as well...:keke:
I thought the same thing when I installed mine, it isn't like a dramatic feeling power increase, but it does smooth everything out a lot. I did definitely notice it though when I unmarried the system from my car one time and drove around. Not only was it not as smooth, but there was a noticeable power difference in high rpms.
discontinued one, honestly I may just return it and get a new one when they come out IF the new one provides big enough differences, if not I'll keep what I got.
I'm gonna be needing some kind of engine mgmnt. soon cause I think I shot fire last night when I over reved by mistake and backfired didnt cut off or anything though but you should have seen the cars move away from me or stop downtown.
I don't believe the new one is going to be any better as far as it's tuning capabilities are concerned, more just creature comforts.
The new version just injects a little more turbo juice into the ECU's InterThrillerChillerZone Activator.
Have you tried doing the Vishnu Advanced Multiplier learning trick? http://forums.nasioc.com/forums/showthread.php?t=302047&highlight=Vishnu+ECU+learning
does that work for all models... i remember scott saying that the 05+ Sti's dont like left foot braking also for 05+ STi's, i believe the AM varies from 0 to 1
Welp, not sure what happened but I think the IAM has moved, the drive home tonight I definately noticed better pull in the 2k to 3k range. Well worth it and highly recommended.
