So I have been saving up my money and have been getting my a** kicked by a 240sx in auto x, so it is about time I get some supinsion. I wanted to know what your all's opions on coilovers; such as brands, adjusments, and dampaning. I looking for a set that is a race type could care less about the street, need something that is very compative in auto x and road racing. Any input is welcome.

(P.S. should buy sometime before July)

    Thanks Brian

+1 for tein coilovers... proper alignment setup is KEY ;)

also look at ALL of your handling setup (bars, bushes, steering rack/bushes, endlinks, etc.) little tweaks in the right places can make a big difference.

alex does have the JICs... although i dunno if he's had them set up yet(he had dialing issues and stuff, but they were used-they're very good brand from what i hear).

I already have a perrin rear sway bar, mounts, and end links in the rear and perrin front endlinks on a stock front swaybar. The vehicle is a 03 WRX Wagon. I will take a look at the TEIN's that are for sale. Thanks for the input.

Mono Tube design is supposedly better than the dual tube like the Flex. I was just reading about some similar the other day. They were not the Teins though. I don't know if they have been proven on the Imprezas to be better or worse than the Dual Tube Design. Also, for the price Milo is asking, you would be hard pressed to find a better deal.

I would wait a good bit on the Mono Tubes until they have had some real testing done. Once people start to accept it on Nasioc and the like, then it may be worth looking into, but at this time, the Tein Flexs are supposed to be one of the best Coilover sets for our cars.

From the pricing I've seen on the Tein's Japan website it looks like they're gonna run about 2k a set. Just trying to throw in another option. However, if I didn't already have coilovers, I would have bought Milo's Flexs already. Super deal for great coiloves :)

Have you considered tires? I don't know how much time coilovers will give compared to a set of victoracers or v710s. Tires seemed to be a limiting factor in autox, why else would a STi in STU get paxed lower than an STI in A Stock. Just my thoughts. Also if you want some seat time, AR SCCA is hosting a novice school on the 10th of june. While it doesn't sound like you are novice, it's a bunch of seat time for only $50. I attended both last year even though I wasn't a real novice.

My $.02 about the JICs. Ive taken them to Tally as well, they're just nuts :) Scott Sanders and I are running the exact same setup right now: jics (7/5), 27mm front, 26mm rear, and we are both extremely PLEASED. With the RE070s, the cars just stick to no end, its incredible.

A lot of people say that its farily difficult to find a setup for the street thats comfortable, yet versatile on the track. The issue with mine is that its difficult to dail in, however, I attribute that mostly to them being used. I will prob. send them in for a rebuild in the next month or so, who knows. I like the teins, and I enjoy the JICs. You cant really go wrong with either, I bought the JICs over any other brand because of the deal I found, that's about it. Stick with JIC, Tein, Cusco, etc and you should be fine. If you are looking for budget, consider upgrading a few things before moving straight to coilovers...ie mounts, tires, linkage, brakes, springs, shocks.

New off the shelf Tien Flexs are what you want. As you get more serious you can order different rates for the rear but off the shelf will be a great start.

The new ones are digressive, older ones will be linear like the JICs. For our subies, a digressive setup will beat a linear one for autoX / track use. Plus they have a nicer ride on the street. ;)
