Does anyone have any idea how much should a compression test should cost at either a Subaru dealer or an in dependent shop on a four cylinder boxer motor?

I'm thinking of getting this done on an out-of-state car I'm interested in.

    Excellent,

I am going to call the out of state Subaru dealer and the Seller, and try to coordinate a compression test for sometime this week. It seems like relatively cheap insurance when looking at a used car.

you may want to consider a leakdown test as well.

but only if the compression is lower than stated in the FSM. A leakdown at that point will tell you if the rings are giving up, or if a valve is leaky.

    Thanks,

May I ask about how much a leakdown test is and how involved it is? ( again for a SOHC turbo flat-4)

leak down is an additional $197.
