But not for me.....for the wifey. We are getting rid of the crappy Saturn and going back to something with more space. Very very interested in an Outback due to the hatch space and the roof rack. We were gonna go for third row seats like a Nissan Pathfinder but with the ever raising gas prices and the amount the wife drives, we wanna stick with something that is more fuel efficient. So looking around it seems a majority of the nicer ones (2005+) have H6 engines. How reliable are these engines and how is the gas mileage in them for those of you that have these engines?
We also looking at the Leggy GT but it has to be an auto. Leggy looks bigger with more room than the Outback.
i personally prefer the looks of the foresters to the new outbacks. they are plenty big and are all 4cylinders and get great gas mileage (~27mpg). i bet you could get one under $20k if you haggle well
The Outback/Legacy wagons are identical inside space wise. The Outback Sport is identical to a Imprezza Wagon on the inside.
Sarah hates the Foresters so those are out of the question. It's not about what I want/would like her to have as she's the one driving it.
Yeah but they cost way too much. Wanna keep payments at or below $300 which is prolly gonna be a stretch.
Plenty of TDi VW's with well over 200K miles on them. I dont know how the interior on them are holding up but they seem to be holding up well mechanically. How much worse can they be from a Subaru
Every person I know with a VW has had nothing but problems and expensive fixes on their cars. I own a BMW now....don't need something else expensive to fix.
i haven't heard too many problems with the TDi engines. the 1.8t engines are hit and miss, either super awesome or super shitty. and the N/A 2.0l are pure shit (from experience)
oh gotcha, only guy i knew personally was a former manager. he had ~250k on a ~99 TDi jetta. looked, ran like brand new. interior was a obviously dirty. this was probably 5yrs ago now
Well according to WJM the H6 engines are totally more reliable than the h4 engines. Said they've only had 2 of the newer 2004+ H6 opened in the shop. Most issues were simple issues like PCV valves and such and they are super reliable. get about 1-2 mpg less than the H4. Perfect. Now on the hunt for a good deal.
After hearing Cool's wife scream, "No more Subarus" in the background I doubt a 2011 STI is an option
LOL you heard her? LOL. No more Subaru's for me I can't blame her though with the amount of time and money I dumped into that thing.
I almost bought a RevoTechnik SportWagen TDI before the Legacy GT... 205HP and 320ft/lbs and 40+mpg/gallon. I should be smart enough to be weary of VAG electronics, yet I still find myself drawn to their product.
You and me both man. I am actually looking at maybe getting the wife a TDi Jetta Wagun. Even after the nightware experience I had with my VW GTi and Audi A4 I am still drawn to the brand.
They are really hard to find used and the people selling used ones want almost as much as the new ones.
That's what I'm finding and that only can mean one thing.....they are very stout and very good vehicles.
Yup, that is one of the reasons why I keep looking back at the wagun. You need to go drive one of the TDi's. They are actually pretty quick and dont sound or feel like a diesel. I was very impressed when I drove one at the dealer.
I'm sure they are and if I can find one I will. Again it's for my wife....not me. The M3 is stupid fast right now with the 4.10's in it.....it brings a huge smile on my face. Just now need to get rid of the rasp (it's loud!).
LOL she actually said no more Subaru parts. She's just as sick as I am seeing Subaru stuff laying around....I have a guy coming to get all the uppipes and catted exhaust parts I have laying around (11 WRX uppipes, and 13 catted downpipes). Guess he wants them for the material in the cats.
the friend i just bought my bmw from switched to an 08 Audi A4 S-line. sexy car. lol, i've never been able to get over the name VAG
Unfortunately, no. Obviously they're much more superior than the dinky Mazda3. I've been in the passenger side of an '05 STi, but that's about it.
