Hello to all, I recently installed some coilovers on my STi. I'm now letting them settle and have an apointment friday to have the car proformance aligned. I have been told by a few people to have it corner balanced as well. I kind of understand what that intails but what exactly happens and what kind of tools are need to proform this kind of procedure??? And finally how does this help me ? Sorry if this sounds like a dumb question but I would rather know then sound like a idiot. Thanks Mike
You need the wrenches that adjust the spring collar on your coilovers. This will ensure that each coilover is receiving the correct amount of weight. If your coilover is too low on one corner, it will receive more weight than the rest of the suspension. This will cause your car to act differently on turns right versus left. They basically put your car on scales and just keep adjusting until the cross weight difference is a few percentage. Formula 1 uses cross weight differences of less than 1%. Cross weight is the load on the struts on the front right and rear left added together subtracted from the front left and rear right added together.
have it corner balanced before your alignment. Otherwise it may mess up your alignment. Topspeed should be able to do it.
Thanx pEd I guess I will, I just wanted to make sure it was a must do. And thank you for helping me out this weekend you rock sir.
You don't have to get it done. I would recommend it though. And you're more than welcome. I'm sorry I couldn't be there in person to help out.
