I was stuck traffic during afternoon rush hour today. My IAT hit 172F while crawling on I-85 !!! This was my first time to drive during traffic with new TurboXS DP with ThermoTec wrap. The max temp that I used to experience was about 160F even during HOT summer time... I wonder how high it will go with just bare bone downpipe with no shield...

CN: Ceramic coating is more superior than wrapping in heat insulation.

It's gonna get hot regardless if you are crawling. The trick is how quick you can get it to drop as soon as you get moving > 25 mph. I made a custom airbox that FUGLY as it can be but it works.

I have always preferred ceramic coating to wrapping.

This summer I intend to try once again for a turbo blanket, get the downpipe worked over, etc.

I also bought turbo blanket, but I haven't installed it yet. I wish aftermarket intake heat shield would fit with fmic piping..

Ehhh not really. The intake temps are tuned into the car. After it gets so hot (IAT of 120+) the ECU will begin to start yanking back some timing. The colder the intake temps the happier the car will be. But it's also important to keep the cold air in the pipe cold as well though.
