so on the highway when cruise control is on it will randomly cut out and the set light turns off. its really inconsistent sometimes it will stay on for 30 min sometimes it will cut off in 10 seconds. anyone else have this problem btw its usually set anywhere form 75-85 and my car is a 04 STI....i would love to get this figured out before i take a 12 hour trip to Wisconsin.

wow, never thought ne one had the same problem i did.

when i drove down here from ohio it was a 14 hour drive and about 12 hours into it i had the same problem. the road was really wavy so the shifter moved around a little. I believe there is a cutoff switch on the shifter and if it would pop out of gear it shuts cruise off. this may be the cause of our problems. i havent seen it since that time tho

This happened on my old Integra a lot, but I never figured out why. Sometimes it seemed like it was the weather, sometimes road conditions, but the road was never bad enough to knock the shifter too much. It'd konk out at bridge seams sometimes even.

The funny thing is that it'd be a problem for a while, then disappear for months before it came back again inexplicably.

This seems to be a common issue with 04 STi that I can NEVER get the cruise control system to tell me what the fuck code its throwing. As soon as you turn the key off the cruise control resets and you have to duplicate the problem for the code again.

I've looked at 5~6 04 STi's with this problem and have yet to find anything physically wrong with the car and even with the problem duplicated and the SSM3 hooked up, the system REFUSES to give me a fucking trouble code. Same if I try to extract the code manually, I just get the 'system ok' blink.
