Thanks, I just spent the last 3 hours finishing up the skim coat of filler. The panels will be covered in vinyl that matches the upper part of the door and better matching blue suede for the insert. I like things to look OEM when it comes to car audio.
dude. i so want to learn how to start & finish fabrication projects like this people who know how to do this should have a 'demo day' and teach the rest of us. ;p
I was going to write that I still have the rear panels to do, so whomever wants to learn.... I will be back at it on Sunday. Some more goodies that I made for the car.... Glovebox insert that holds the ipod and Alpine 701 controller, flush mount subwoofer box that holds 2 JL 10Wv2, and new battery, 0 gauge wire and custom fuse holder.
very nice man! you do great work. :bigthumb: won't be back in ATL until late sunday, but would like to learn also, where's that subwoofer box mounted?
that looks great. so you just cut away the excess door where the old speaker hole was? can i get a back side pic? there is no box. behide the rear seats you make a baffle and make the trunk a box. you use a free air speaker. cant say ive seen it done on a wrx before. what speakers are you using?
There is a box now.... That was test fitting the face of it against the seatback. The "back" of the box contours to the trunk opening, so when you open the trunk, all you see is a carpet wall. Everything is hidden. Here is the list of what is going in… Alpine IVA-W200 Head unit Alpine PXA-H701 processor Alpine PDX-4.150 (x2) Alpine PDX-1.1000 Alpine SPX-137R with Seas 7” midbass (front) Alpine SPX-177R (rear) Seas center channel for 5.1 in the clock location. Alpine CHA-S634 MP3 changer JL Audio 10” W6v2 (x2)
Trying to get the vinyl right on these....what a bitch! I had hoped to have them all finished this weekend, but it looks like I will only have the fronts done. I will be making my third attempt at perfection Wed. Pics that night if it goes well.
Sorry guys, I have just been buried. I have the fronts wrapped and ready to put back together. Alpine finally shipped me my amps, so I will be trying to get some work done today. Alex, got the shirts!
dude, the door panels look sick! can't wait to see final install pics. now i know who to come to for the kick ass system install (when i can afford it).
Wow, that is pretty freakin slick! I might try something like this with a door pannel i find in the junk yard first .
Yep, I actually found OEM looking stuff at JoAnns. Door panels are not really that hard if have the right tools. The biggest headache so far was getting the vinyl to sit just right. I will try and get the fronts finished up on Wed.
Thanks, I am really trying to finish the car before NOPI. However I would like to point out that, if the car is not finished in time these panels will be for sale.
