i was checking schedules for friday night spring racing and ... http://www.southeasterndragway.com/ Did anyone know about this already??? :wtc: :wtc:
the track itself was total ass, yes. the pavement of the strip was leftover highway pavement (still had the yellow lines at the end after all these years.) The first 60' was uphill... The stands were a dump, the bathroom had missing bricks, the lamps didn't work half the time, the staging area only held about 20 cars in a line, pit alley was tiny and dangerous as pedestrians... but dammit, it was cheap and it was close! most likely they sold it to a developer.... you seen some of those neighborhoods going in out there?
alternative for us north & westsiders: 30 miles closer to me than commerce http://www.paradisedragstrip.net/
If we bought Dallas, could we make it into a 1/4 mile? Or better yet, how about the first 1/2 mile dragstrip, now that would be awesome.
They probably let the place go to hell because they knew it would be only a matter of time before residents that moved into developments built after the track complained about the noise. I doubt that you could buy it and keep it as a track.
Wo, now that would be hot. I would love me a 1 mile drag strip. We would get killed by everyone with no top end, but it would still be fun as all hell. Wonder what kinda of speed could be reached flooring it for 1 whole mile.
Maybe with an upgraded turbo. I don't think I could do that on the stocker. I hit about 130 down the back straight of RA, don't know if the car had much left after that. I would know more if I was the one driving on RA, but that didn't happen.
