Ok, so my tranny came with the DCCD computer which I routed under my center console. Aside from the 2 wires coming from the transmission itself, it has 5 additional wires coming from the cpu. They are separated into pairs I guess you could say, there is one Black one (Im guessing ground?) next to a red one coming out of the side of the cpu (*small piece of tape on this pair says "VI" any clue what that means?*). And then there are 2 black ones next to another red one coming out the bottom of the cpu. Any idea where these wires need to go? I know I need the DCCD controller to use it manually, but I'm atleast hoping to splice it to make it work in auto mode. I'll post pics if I have to, but its just as described. I tried searching Nasioc and Google but only found this thread but my cpu looks nothing like this guys. http://www.type-ra.co.uk/vB/showthread.php?t=3015
I am not entirely sure Dana but if it is the stock unit I believe it will be more complicated than you are wanting and may not even work. I think it is tied into the abs unit and some other sensors that your car does not have. I got the Spiider controller and it was straight forward and not too terribly expensive. Maybe WJM or someone more knowledgeable than me will chime in.
please enlighten me? hmm... the cpu I have is similar to this minus the fancy wrap, label, and the wires have been spliced
hmm, that is the unit I have. go to dccdpro.com and see if the wires match up, I remember we had to tap into the TPS wire from the ecu and the 2 dccd wires a ground and the power.
Auto mode shifts power around as the ECU sees fit. With the controller your looking at you will only be able to SET front to rear torque.
ah okay. so I just need to get controller and call it a day, or just scrap the whole idea of having DCCD until I can fork up the cash for the spiider unit?
right now I think the split is 59 rear, 41 front by default. Atleast I read it somewhere in the gobs of research I did (but may be getting it mixed up) I know it really tail happy in the rain though :naughty:
Yeah, its happy in the rain because its running in full open and sending power to the corners that will slip. You'll have issues going over speed bumps and curbs as well, any situation where one end of the car has significantly more or less traction than the other. Save up, get the Spiider unit. Guys have been trying to build DCCD units for years and DCCDpro is the only guy next to Neetronics($$) and the GEMS ECU($$$$$) that has been able to make it work,
Not to call you out, but here is the skinny on what to look for in regards to a swap: http://www.catherineandken.co.uk/sti/trans.html
and here is all the model codes relevant to the bugeye forward http://www.j-garage.com/subaru/impreza/gdb/code.htm
Brian, if this information hsnt aready been posted, a mod should make a separate thread and sticky it for future reference
