Lately I have been in downgrade mode. First move was going from a Subaru performance cluster back to a clock pod. A small, seemingly insignificant move but a move none the less towards stock. Next was selling the ecutek and going open ecu. After that it was going from a JDM v7 6 speed to a stock 02 5 speed and stock wrx clutch. I cancelled my order for the 07 6 speed and intend to run the 5mt permanently. While the car was down for the tranny swap I ditched the tribeca sway bar for a stocker. This morning before work it was the brakes. I couldn't take the squeking from the carbotechs any longer so I swapped them out before my morning commute. The question is what is next in the devolution? I am thinking either the turbo kit or the FMIC. Maybe the Perrin twin tip for a quieter STi cat back I have sitting in my garage. Once I finish the other car I am working on now it will be a long time before I even touch a wrench again. I haven't done work for anybody lately and I won't be anytime soon. The exception being a couple of people who have helped me recently that I owe the favor. solilquy := over;
dont part the car out! it's tooo nice! and i never got a ride! but if u do....the engine needs to go to its twin, <---------------
Hate to jump on the bandwagon here, but if you want a stock-ish like turbo, mine would certainly fit in there. **Back on topic** What pushed you this way? Are you tired of the wrenching itself, or are you not happy with the results you've gotten?
The transmission pushed me over the edge. For the cost of a transmission I can buy a nice daily driver. Not that I want to, but I could. Since I have to dial the power way back for the 5mt, my goal now is to make the car quiet. The brakes were the first step. Recirc the BOV is next and then a quieter cat back. Matt, if you want to try the swaybar out swing on by and pick it up. BTW the damn carbotechs are in a box in my attic still squeaking.
I go through that all the time in my cars. I tend to end up modifying them to the ragged edge, then I am unhappy because of it. It has taken a ton of restraint to not go off on my Saab. Stage 2 is nice so I am trying to stay there!
Ok, let me know how far that fuel pump will take me, what size turbo. and PM me an asking price. Thanks. I have stock wheels if u want, 17" woohoo!
I am not going all the way back to stock. I am just dialing it back some so the 5mt will last a while
After hail damage removal and other minor body work I wish could garage mine. You might want to find a smaller quick spooling turbo that is more low end. That 16g you installed for me is a great daily turbo. I love it. Keep the FMIC though.
Mike.....just stop now, leave the car alone. You will regret taking it a part. Your car is a really nice daily driver just put another 6 speed back in it. Matt
I really don't like the ratios on the 6 speed. I have actually been enjoying driving my car again with a 5 speed. Part of it may be that I am using an organic full face cluth intsead of a 6 puck setup. The 6 puck chattered on every start and in traffic it was even more painful.
Come on Mike!!!. Next thing you know you will be Tucking your sack back. And asking us to call you Michelle. J/K!
1.5 bar and the 5 speed is holding strong. Now that I have an extra 5mt it may be time to hit the track and see what it can handle. -- Michelle
I lied fuck it part it out, I'm thinking about parting out the bugeye, if you want a PPG Straight cut syncro 5 speed let me know. Matt
